We were lucky to catch up with Kristopher Adams recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kristopher, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
My education consisted of a few things:
Theory
Practice
Living Life
THEORY:
Even though I viewed school as a necessary evil at the time, I was always a good student, so when I lacked the experience and the look to be the top actor at my high school, I compensated by studying the craft of acting more than anyone else. I read books, listened to interviews, and watched performances from actors I admired, which worked well enough for me to get noticed.
PRACTICE:
“Theory without practice is empty”
Most people have heard something like this before in their life, but most people don’t know the second half of that quote:
“Practice with theory is blind”
I had a leg up, because I already had the theory, I just had to get some practice, or my “10,000 hours”.
For the time being, I took what I could get so I could practice my theory until I eventually became more grounded and comfortable in doing.
I’m glad I was doing that in theatre and at that age, because you don’t wanna get caught “getting your feet wet” or just taking anything in film, because it could potentially cost you.
LIVING LIFE:
Once I had the theory and the practice combined, I knew I could perform at any level. But in order to be an artist, I still need the one ingredient that all great art is based upon: Life Experience.
Life Experience breeds Unique Perspective, which ultimately breeds Artistic Expression.
I’ve lived a lot of life in a short amount of time, and still have a long way to go.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I personally will never put anything out that I am not proud of. I will not involve myself in anything that I will not be proud of.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
“Let the work speak for itself”
The fact that… all of us can each name a laundry list of people who are amazing at what they do, yet don’t get anywhere near the credit they deserve… debunks the idea that the work alone will speak for itself.
That may work for certain people who have all the odds stacked in their favor, but for people who have certain odds stacked against them, that’s often just a gaslighting technique.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
