We recently connected with Kristine Iverson and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kristine, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to start by getting your thoughts on what you are seeing as some the biggest trends emerging in your industry
Wellness is a huge trend in the corporate event industry, especially after COVID. A significant benefit of introducing wellness programs into events is improving attendees’ experiences by stimulating their mental and physical health. A well-curated wellness program can help motivate, energize and build confidence. Employee and attendee well-being has taken on a new meaning after COVID. We were isolated and less engaged, the return to normal is taking some time. We all need to reconnect and what better way to that than by sharing well-being activities.
If the company had a wellness focus before, they are stepping it up now and we have many requests from companies that never incorporated wellness in their meetings prior to COVID,
Kristine, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
By nature I am a wanderer, always searching. I’m the person who in my 20’s spent months on a farm with the Hari Krishna’ in Ecuador. I have many stories like this. I had this juxtaposition of trying to find meaningful work and create a successful career. For most of my life, it never connected, I would get a career title, decent paycheck, a bonus, an office with my name on the door… yet I was never truly ful-filled.
I repeated this cycle of what I was told success looked like and my strong desire for meaningful and purposeful work for close to 2 decades. Until seven years ago when I created CROW, a wellness company that serves the live events industry. It’s were I find my purpose, everyday. Gives me so much more than a paycheck, gives me the opportunity to serve thousands with healing modalities. If covid did anything for me, it gave me an opportunity to re-evaluate and re-affirm- what do I want to do with my time and energy here? My answer keeps returning to serving thousands with healing modalities.
Our extensive network of wellness providers offers endless opportunities for health and wellness to be added to any event, meeting or conference. We have a partnership with Deepak Chopra’s Mind Body Zone in the Lake Nona Performing Arts Center. I am now personally focused at being a keynote speaker, with a wide perspective on the methods of wellbeing and self care in everyday life.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
We are in a unique position because CROW is the only company in the Southeast structured as we are. Every opportunity that we received, I would be grateful for it and thank the referral who gave it us. My focus was on doing the best job we could with that one lead and build that one relationship. Asking questions to ensure we were going above and beyond with our turn around time or adding an enhancement. Creating wellness packages and scheduling sales presentations played a huge part in our success. After years of helping clients, our reputation grew organically in the live events industry.
I would attend many industry networking events, volunteer and if asked if we could offer something for sponsorship my answer was always yes. It did not happen overnight, from building relationship by relationship.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I made the decision that this was my highest and best path. I struggled to find meaningful work for years. CROW serves as my vehicle to bring healing to the masses. I have countless examples of resilience. The financial sacrifice to start up, of course, having no capital and using personal lines of credit.
One time I had been trying to connect with a new potential client. I was not having any luck. Then I saw him in person at my bank!? He got into an elevator and I jumped in the elevator and introduced myself. He was trapped with me in the elevator until he reached his floor. He was so shocked (so was I). He is now a beloved a client and we laugh about this story.
