Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kristine Harris. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kristine, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
In my experience, being in fitness industry for the past 16 years, success has always been proving my clients with the best outcomes as they work towards their goals. I have worked with clients both in person and virtually. I have used my training in Pilates as well as my experience working in physical therapy as a trainer to develop effective programming for my specific niche of clients. Maintaining and growing my client base has been part of my success- tenacity, willingness to learn, and perseverance are also important, especially in a competitive market in the fitness industry.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I have been a certified Personal Trainer and Group Exercise Instructor since 2006 and Certified Pilates instructor since 2020. I started in the fitness industry because I loved working out. I became certified as a trainer and group instructor and turned my passion into a career. I love working with clients to help them get stronger and feel better. I have been working in physical therapy clinics for the past 9 years as a trainer working with post-rehabilitative clients and became Polestar certified because it’s a rehabilitative Pilates program. I developed my own company, Kore Fitness in late 2020 as a way to develop my own business and brand. I offer virtual and in-person training, livestream classes, and a full library of classes as well as merchandise and fitness gear. I wanted to be able to reach more people and cover a grater population base with the virtual options. Covid has brought about more virtual options and I discovered that this was a good niche for my business.
How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.
I do sell merchandise on my website. I have my shop set up with a variety of fitness apparel and merchandise. I have outsourced the apparel through Printful, a company that does the screening for the apparel. I have designed the prints for the products and the company ships the product to the customer as they order it. I don’t need to have any inventory on hand, which is a benefit. The company takes a percentage of the profit, which is figured into my cost. That can potentially increase the price that I charge for my products, so that can be a potential downside. Overall, I have been happy with the company and it has been good for my business.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for me has been referrals from other satisfied clients. I’m the fitness industry that is important. – it means that your clients are satisfied and trust you.
