We recently connected with Kristine Griffin and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kristine thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
Taking my experience back to living in Germany in my early 20’s introduced me to natural remedies to heal the body from illness. After returning to the states, I was given an opportunity to be trained as a Medical Assistant for an Integrated Physician who thought “outside the box” when it came to helping his patients. As a single mother of 3, I split my days working as a personal trainer and Medical Assistant. An idea started to germinate and felt I had something greater to offer. Not quite sure how it would happen, but felt getting my Estheticians License would get me closer to helping a larger population of people. It may sound crazy and my kids thought I had lost my mind, but I marched forward and after a year of balancing out my crazy schedule, I had that license in my hand. I tried working for others in the world of beauty and skincare, but that was pulling me away from this growing vision. I learned a tremendous amount and very thankful for the opportunities I was given but knew I needed to be on my own. The question was what was I trying to accomplish. I worked on vision boards and journaled my experiences. I had always been curious about Eastern Medicine and the art of Cupping. I began to research as it seemed so aligned with my time in Germany as well as years spent working for the doctor. I received my first certification for Cupping and alternative healing modalities online. I was a sponge absorbing this information and needed to know more. I attended a live 3 day workshop and this was when I knew I had something special and unique to offer. My purpose and mission was coming together. I am a nurturing person by nature who wanted to be able to help a variety of people. The mind and body are so connected and I wanted to treat and help a variety of issues. I knew that in order to help others, I needed to go back to the books. I began with becoming a certified Health Coach which then turned into becoming a Master Health and Wellness Coach. The psychology piece was what was missing from bringing my passion full circle and creating Body Ageless Living. Understanding what may be going on internally allowed me to better understand how that was connected to what people were feeling externally. My business is a whole health approach to addressing all your skincare, health and wellness needs. Let’s just say, it was not a straight path to get here and took many turns, but well worth all the energy and time. I love what I s do and feel so grateful!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
Reading up on my back story may help those to better understand my business and what I offer. As an Esthetician and Cupping Practitioner, addressing various skincare issues has always been important to me. Aging skin and treating the signs of aging with a more holistic and natural approach is part of my signature. My recipe for helping people achieve their skincare goals is incorporating Facial Cupping, Gua Sha and Red Light to my customized facials. Micro channeling (micro needling) addresses everything from acne to fine lines and wrinkles. Not everyone wants to undergo expensive lasers, fillers and surgery. I offer an alternative for those looking to reach their skincare goals more naturally with amazing results. Working on the body, I incorporate Cupping, Scraping and Magnetic Acu pressure to help reduce pain, stiffness and mobility issues. Athletes and competitors come to me to free up adhesions and scar tissue that are holding them back. Old injuries and scars can be addressed. Getting to the root of someones issues or concerns may be coming from something deeper than what is presented on the surface. Allowing my clients to confidentially share things that may be part of what is keeping their bodies stuck, can result in releasing both the internal and external issues. I am proud of what I have created and feel my years in the fitness industry, medical setting and all of my other teachings make me unique. Always thinking outside the box and uncovering whatever it is that is holding you back from feeling confident, healthy and happy is what I am all about.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My resilience dates back to my upbringing. The oldest of 5 and incredibly shy, I had no voice (so to speak). Fast forward, going through a divorce and raising 3 children while working 2 jobs and studying to further my knowledge made it difficult at times to balance my life. Money was so tight that I sometimes didn’t have enough funds for the kids to get a hot lunch at school. I became very creative with my cooking skills and how to stretch a pork roast to last for 3 days. I was drowning in debt as my jobs were not a steady source of income. I, inevitably lost my house and my car. My kids are everything to me and it hurt my heart knowing I wasn’t providing better for them. I put on a brave face in front of them and cried myself to sleep. The one thing that kept me moving forward is that somewhere deep down, I knew that one day I would turn the corner. My experiences taught me so much about myself and I gained strength from that. Having supportive family and friends helped me regain my footing and begin to build this business. I realize its the small things that make me happy.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Success in my field is multi-faceted. It begins with proper education, a desire to want to help a wide variety of issues and passion for healing others. The business of skincare, health and wellness is constantly changing. Listening is a skill that is crucial to helping those who don’t feel heard or are being dismissed by their doctors. Thinking outside the box and having a well rounded background to help address a multitude of problems or issues is imperative in my line of work. What is showing itself on the surface of the skin is just one piece of the puzzle. My practice of Gua Sha, Scraping, Cupping and Acupressure address both acute and chronic problems. Skin rejuvenation and anti-aging services produce greater results and longer lasting when combined with addressing what is going on below the surface. Our faces tell a story and tapping into the underlying cause of what may be producing those fine lines, lackluster tone and loss of elasticity, can help people achieve beautiful results both internally and externally. This is where my Coaching practice takes this business full circle. Positive psychology, healthy mindset and ability to understand how everything is so connected, helps the client to understand what may be holding them back from feeling their best.
