We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kristina Swift a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Kristina thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

I launched my own Executive Search company – Serendipity Executive Search 6 years ago and have experienced so much fulfillment in matching people with life changing career moves. On a personal note, I found myself in my mid 40’s single again and navigating the dating apps and all the highs and lows that come with them. I lost count after the 50 first dates and enough crazy stories to write a book – to finally find my person, who is now my husband. It occurred to me there had to be an easier way that wasnt laden with constant disappointment and frustration.
I combined my career matchmaking experience, extensive coaching background, with my own dating journey to create Like Love.
Like Love is a local, human led matchmaking company that is focused on social experiences that bring people together in vibrant envronments that nurture authentic, organic connections. The majority of people are fatigued by the swiping culture, the catfishing, the fake profiles, the ghosting that have become mainstream in dating today – so much so that they are simply giving up. Enter Like Love – we believe everyone deserves to find love. We are replacing endless texting with our Signature Socials and Table for 8 dinner series curated by age group – real people coming together with a common goal of finding their person. We like to say that at our social events, you will meet lots of peole that you like and eventually one that you love.

Kristina , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I linked arms with a former colleague who became the co-founder of Like Love – Garren Lofgreen. He is the most talented creative marketer and brand building expert I have worked with. He created the Like Love brand that really embodies our vision and mission with a warm, lifestyle esthtetic that gives a nod to our beautiful Arizona backdrop.

We have membership levels that include coaching, free tickets to our events and accesss to our other services including profile writing, photos, styling and teeth whitening.

We have a fun podcast called Like Love Stories that covers dating topics, pop culture, special expert guests to provide important insight on relationships and of course lots of great stories that will make you laugh.

At a time when dating has become so impersonal – we are creating social experiences that brings the joy back in meeting new people – think of us as your wingman/wingwoman in connecting the dots from like to love.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

Spending most of my career prioritizing work over everything and being obsessed with excelling in my career – I have learned to dial that down and make more time for living life – being present and focusing more time on the really important people in my life.
I love to support entrepreneurs anyway I can – I admire them – I respect them and I applaud their courage to not conform to the more traditional career paths. It is not easy but it is worth it.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

Before becoming an entrepreneur, I had built a very successful career from an entry level sales job in my 20’s to working my way up the corporate ladder to Head of Sales of companies that had revenue from 350M-900M in revenue. I made one bad decision and let my ego get the best of me – I took a job for the wrong reasons – money and title. I justified all the red flags and warnings. BIG mistake with a not so happy ending.
Having said that, it gave me the time to pause, breath and do something that had always been floating around in my mind – take my passion for helping people, career coaching, with my experience building high performance teams and start my own Executive Recruiting Agency. I was scared but did it anyways. It was the BEST decision ever. I get to play a small part in helping people advnce their career, make more money and have better work life balance.

Like Love is an extension of the work I have been doing – afterall the most important decision you will ever make is who you choose to spend your life with.
