We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kristina Kury Founder of Sprout Creative LA & Conscious Do Good a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kristina Kury, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Back in 2018, I sowed the seeds of what would eventually become “Conscious Do Good,” but in those early days, it was simply known as “Operation Rainbow Sprout.” My dream was to make a profound impact on my community by organizing monthly do-good events open to anyone willing to join. I made it a goal to challenge myself and host an event every month during 2018. Each month, we embarked on a fresh philanthropic endeavor, but our guiding principle remained constant: education. These gatherings weren’t just about acts of kindness; they were opportunities for education, a chance to delve into the heart of the issue at hand and in doing so, ignite a passion for positive change in our own lives.
My peek happiness came at two points during 2018. One was seeing people attend one month at a specific nonprofit and then stay with that nonprofit because of the connection they made with the cause. The second was when strangers began finding my events and showing up. People want to do good and all it takes is a little opportunity.
As the year unfolded, the roots of Operation Rainbow Sprout dug deep, and together, we amassed over 400 hours of volunteering. But the story didn’t stop there.
Today, Conscious Do Good, born from those humble beginnings, has grown and evolved. We’ve broadened our mission to include guiding corporations in meaningful volunteering activities that leave a lasting, positive impact on their communities and the world. We continue to champion the power of education and advocacy alongside philanthropy, with a steadfast commitment to creating enduring change and inspiring others to cultivate goodness in their own lives.

Kristina Kury, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Having spent a solid decade navigating the world of marketing within various companies, I finally took the plunge in 2019 to establish my very own marketing agency. As my agency flourished, enabling me to support incredible entrepreneurs and businesses in their marketing endeavors, I felt drawn for a new adventure, all the while continuing to serve my loyal marketing clients. It was then that I dived into a fresh venture, a company I’ve named “Conscious Do Good.”
Our mission is clear-cut: to unravel the often intricate and common challenges that tend to surface when planning and executing team-building events successfully. In a world where “88% of employers believe effective employee engagement programs help attract and retain employees,” finding the right nonprofit partner, executing a thriving event, educating and engaging your team, and actively seeking feedback for improvement are paramount. We’re here to make sure it all comes together seamlessly, while still having fun!

Have you ever had to pivot?
In the fall of 2019, I launched my marketing agency, Sprout Creative LA. As I ventured into my first holiday season, I began gaining a few clients. However, in March of 2020, the world was struck by the onset of the Covid pandemic, and like many others, I found myself losing all but one client during those initial turbulent times.
It was a few weeks of frantic recalibration and reassessment, but then I had a pivotal realization – my ideal client had changed their buying habit within the confines of this lockdown environment. This awareness prompted a vital transformation in my company’s messaging and services. With this strategic pivot, I not only managed to adapt swiftly but also continued to attract paying clients, even amid the challenges of a pandemic.
The reality is, that the profiles of our ideal clients undergo frequent shifts and transformations throughout their purchasing journey. Staying nimble and vigilant is crucial, and it’s not limited to pandemic-induced changes. Here are my top three recommendations for my marketing clients and a principle I adhere to in building my latest company:
1. Regularly revisit and engage in interviews with your ideal clients.
2. Adapt and evolve based on the insights gained from these interactions.
3. Embrace growth and change in line with the evolving needs and preferences of the clients you serve.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
I calculated where my clients were coming from and found a startling statistic! 80% of my business had its roots in the communities, both virtual and physical, to which I belonged. Undoubtedly, this is the most potent method to cultivate that essential “know, like, and trust” factor, the catalyst for welcoming fresh clients, forging partnerships, and unlocking new opportunities.
I am an active participant in four distinct communities. Yet, it’s crucial to understand that you can’t simply join these communities and anticipate a flood of clients. The secret ingredient for success lies in your willingness to invest time, energy, and a portion of your expertise. Only by giving will you receive in return, and the key here is to ensure you don’t overextend yourself due to the time and energy these commitments demand.
1 – Be active and giving – share some of your talents and be open to referring others
2 – Stay connected and engaging with the members
3 – Show up to the events/networking socials, if it’s virtual be sure to have your video on and always show up with a positive attitude
