We were lucky to catch up with Kristina Knapp recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kristina, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Mission – Show women they don’t need a permission slip to be exactly who the f*ck they are and make a lot of money doing it!
In my past life, I could be found flipping underperforming stores into the TOP performing stores in the nation in a 3-week time frame for high fashion retail companies. Feeling completely empty, I left my very high-paying job and went on a mission to do something to fill my soul, instead of just my pocketbook. Leaving the corporate world behind, I started my own business and set out to help women with the same dream live out their WILDEST dreams. Determined to reach success in an unconventional way, I’ve transformed the lives of hundreds of women in business, giving them the one thing they value most-CONFIDENCE. Now, pairing a ying + yang balance of new-age selling with old-school networking, give me anything with AUTHENTICITY and finesse backed with metrics, and I will have you exploring a life of wealth and pure bliss!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am the CEO of Elixir Media Co., a social media marketing company that specializes in using social media as a vehicle to optimize woman-led businesses through reel production and intimate coaching by teaching them how to stand out and show up as a powerhouse in their individual industries. In other words, I help women find fun and ease through growing their businesses online strategically. I am known for making over complicated social media marketing strategies SIMPLE and easy whilst empowering and inspiring women into polarizing transformations. I started my own business because I did not like the traditional structure of most corporate jobs. I knew there was a place where driven and soul-inspiring women could have fun while reaching and exceeding their business goals. Prior to becoming a business owner, I was flipping underperforming stories into the TOP performing stories in the nation in a 3-week frame for high fashion retail companies. Though I was transforming the businesses I worked with into profitable ones, I found myself feeling completely empty and sought out to do something that filled my soul instead of my pocketbook. I am now in a place where I absolutely love what I do and have given a voice to other women-leaders who seek to be unapologetically themselves while showering them with the tools, strategy and support needed to thrive in life and business. One of my biggest accomplishments as a CEO is my journey to making multiple six-figures with an incredible team, having an opportunity to travel the world and buy back time with my family who I take along for the ride.
As a marketing coach, I work intimately with Women CEO’s and coaches and perform a deep dive into what makes their businesses unique whilst using long-term proven and tested strategy that helps them reach an elevated clientele, know how to create loyal, lifetime clients from their social audience and feel excited and confident online. In addition to marketing coaching, we specialize in short-term media creation, which these days look like reels, and TikToks. Over the years, we’ve helped hundreds of women business owners triple their social reach, elevate their online presence, convert qualified leads and drive real traffic to their offers using brand-aligned content. I am motivated and teach those I work with on how to hold the power to rewrite the game and redefine what it means to be a CEO, to create a disturbance in the industry, inspiring women to run their business however the hell they see fit.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the biggest lessons I learned in the last year is recognizing that even now, six years in, I found myself doing things a certain way and it did not occur to me that it was the only way I’d ever been shown. I believe one area that has led to my burnout was buying into a hustle culture. I watched my parents build themselves from nothing to an incredible level, without being entrepreneurs. I am in awe of their tenancy and resilience through their journeys. However, I saw money being made one way and I saw it being made through hard work and sacrifice and ultimately making work a priority over everything. This is exactly how I defined success and that is the way I did things. I realized that there is an infinite amount of options and ways to do things and one thing I do differently in my business, especially in marketing coaching, is to not come from a place where there is one way to do things, one way to make money, and one way to talk and if you do not talk this way than that is why you are not successful. There are so many voices that will say that as a whole, in both the corporate and entrepreneur world as well. What I love bringing to the table is my ability to say, “Hey, here is what I have seen a lot of success with and now, let’s figure out what works for you, and let’s figure out what feels good and what lights you up!” I love that I have the opportunity to burn down the status quo and give my clients a path to being their highest and most authentic selves in a way that is both unique and specific to them. Their marketing and their platforms soar because of it. That is the only type of work that I am interested in doing both professionally and in life.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
My greatest advice to those who are just starting to build their social media presence is to build out a structure to follow, and create well-rounded content that connects with people on several different levels. One of the biggest mistakes my clients make is only talking to people about the one way you can help them. This type of marketing strategy would have worked ten years ago but we live in a different world now. The way that consumers and clients make their buying decisions are different than they used to be. It is important for people who are just starting out to understand that people are now concerned with who they are giving their money to. This is cared about so much that people are willing to invest in the person they like, the person they relate to and the person you can see a little bit of yourself in and who we want to be. People are willing to pay 10x more than they pay anyone else because they are buying a piece of you! Do not get lost in trying to replicate the voice or brand of other marketing coaches as your magic lies in your ability to be your HIGHEST, authentic self. When diving into social strategy, create a system that is repeatable, teachable and that can work across any industry that allows people to communicate the services they want to sell, how to effectively do this so it actually converts and how to hit people on a deeper level so that you don’t have to have one million one-on-one conversations. I teach people to make things as easy as possible so they can go back to creating within their zone of genius instead of killing themselves over how to market their businesses. Be unafraid to jump into unfamiliar spaces, like social media platforms, as it may be the exact tool you’ve needed to grow all along.
