We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kristina Burkhan a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kristina, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory of how you established your own practice.
My story began six years ago. Inspired by barre workouts in New York, I realized that what was missing for me in those classes was the grace and dance elements. As someone passionate about classical ballet, I wanted to sculpt my body similarly but in a more dynamic and enjoyable dance rhythm.
Upon returning to my home country, I collaborated with a professional ballet artist, and together, we created an incredibly beautiful new methodology named “Fitballet”—a fusion of fitness and ballet.
While developing this unique methodology, we formed a team of professional ballet artists and commenced their training. My dream was to infuse the true spirit of ballet into our fitness classes for future clients.
After laying this foundation, I focused on finding the best location for my first studio and its renovation, aiming for perfection as envisioned in my mind. This preparation took about a year.
Motivated by the uniqueness of my idea, I wanted my project to be perfect from the start. I invested a significant amount of energy and financial resources into my startup. As a result, my business started slowly and cost me considerable investments. It was a mistake; now I would approach things differently.
Initially, I would test my idea in a simpler, faster way—perhaps in a simple space with minimal investments. This way, I could determine whether my idea resonated with clients or if adjustments were needed.
Unfortunately, I had to part with the space where I invested so much effort and money due to the inability to reach an agreement with the landlord within the first year of successful operation.
Subsequently, I found a new space with a ready-made beautiful design! and quickly resumed our work. I wish I had known it was possible from the beginning.
The main lessons I’ve learned from this experience are:
* Prioritize a quick launch and test the idea with minimal investments. Trigger creativity: how can I try it fast and easy?
* Having a reliable business partner is crucial. Unfortunately, I practically ran the entire business on my own, leading to burnout. Three years later, amidst the pandemic, I decided to close the project due to a lack of strength to face challenges alone. With a strong partner, I believe we could have weathered the storm, and the project would have continued.
* Believe in the uniqueness and success of your project, driven by the desire to help people. This foundation gave me the strength to persevere through tough times.
Following these principles, I am currently developing my new healthcare startup named “Biohack Corp,” here in the States. Through this venture, I hope to assist a large number of people in achieving their health and self-improvement goals.
Wishing you the best of luck on your journey!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Since childhood, I’ve been drawn to aesthetics and beauty. As a little girl, I always wanted to surround myself with beautiful details, and decorative elements, dress elegantly, and receive compliments. The logical continuation of this passion led me to pursue a master’s degree in art history. Concurrently, I’ve always worked as a model in the fashion industry, where I encountered the harsh reality of imposed standards and the constant demand to maintain a perfect shape.
This journey sparked an endless search for the ideal formula to always stay in shape and preserve my beauty. Unfortunately, it even led to an eating disorder—orthorexia—where my diet primarily consisted of low-calorie and low-fat foods, detrimental to women’s health.
Out of this experience, the “Fitballet” project was born. I aimed to create an ideal training system for women, allowing them to stay in shape, have fun, dance, and not subject themselves to torture.
However, after navigating the challenges of running the business solo, I found myself emotionally burned out during the pandemic when the project closed. Seeking answers to my questions and health problems, I grew tired of consulting doctors and decided to study to become a preventive medicine specialist.
Discovering the answers for myself, I resolved to help others find their way to health and longevity. Realizing that many people needed assistance, and acknowledging my limitations in helping everyone alone, I decided to launch the “Biohack Corp” project in the States. It is designed to guide people in finding their path to beauty and longevity using my unique holistic methodology. I believe this journey can be easy and enjoyable, without the need to compare oneself with others, follow restrictive diets, or rely on medications.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
My initial fitness project experienced rapid growth, largely thanks to the ‘word of mouth’ method. Despite allocating resources to social networks and outdoor advertising, which can be quite costly, the primary influx of customers occurred organically. Grateful and satisfied clients brought their friends to the studio and shared their experiences on social media, even without us initially prompting them to do so.
Today, I firmly believe that the most effective strategy for attracting customers is delivering a quality product and making customer satisfaction the primary goal. Providing excellent service ensures that clients will naturally share their positive experiences with friends. Starting with a strong foundation is crucial, and in today’s landscape, the significance of social networks and a strategic location cannot be denied. However, even with a prime location and social media attention, a weak product won’t yield success.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
The team is the backbone of any project and arguably the most pivotal aspect of any business. Finding like-minded individuals who share your passion, support your vision, and work because they believe in the success and greater mission of your business is crucial. Fortunately, both my first and second healthcare projects consist of individuals who, like me, are dedicated to the idea of making a positive impact on the world and helping people.
Therefore, it’s essential to start with a clear definition of the higher mission and the direction we’re all heading together.
Maintaining motivation and high morale isn’t solely about money. During our team meetings, I’ve discovered that sharing specific examples of appreciation and thanks from clients, which I consistently receive, has a profound impact. Reading these messages to my team, I can see tears of joy in their eyes, reinforcing our collective commitment to moving confidently forward.
