We were lucky to catch up with Kristin Sanchez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kristin, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I’ve known I wanted to be a creative professional ever since I was a little girl. From a young age, I was drawn to the world of entertainment, auditioning for commercials, movies, TV shows, and modeling gigs. I vividly remember skipping school or heading to New York City after class with my mom to chase those dreams. My mom’s support fueled my ambition to dream big and pursue a platform where I could truly shine.
I spent years attending acting classes in the city, I would work on getting rid of my Long Island accent and rehearse different movie scenes in class. Even in grade school, I found peace in reading and writing; there was something magical about putting pen to paper and expressing myself in a way that felt truly authentic. It wasn’t until high school that it finally clicked for me – I could channel my love for reading, writing, and my desire to be in front of the camera into a career as a TV personality.
That realization was a game-changer for me, blending my passion for entertainment with my talent for communication. It’s been quite a journey from those early auditions to where I am now, but I couldn’t be more grateful for the path that led me here.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
One of the key aspects that sets me apart is my connection to where I live and my genuine support for all things South Florida. Whether it’s showcasing the latest trends in entertainment, uncovering hidden gems in the city, or shedding light on important issues, I strive to make a meaningful impact with every segment.
In addition to my professional goals, I’m also incredibly proud to be a working mom of three and a graduate student. Balancing the demands of my career, education, and family life can be challenging, but it’s a journey I wouldn’t trade for anything. It’s taught me the importance of resilience, time management, and cherishing every moment with my loved ones.
Ultimately, what I want potential followers and fans to know about me and my work is that I hope my story inspires them to follow their dreams. I’m not just a TV personality; I’m a storyteller, a community advocate, and a passionate advocate for making a difference. And I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to share my journey with all of you.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
As a kid auditioning for various on-camera roles, I encountered a casting agent who said I would never get anywhere with an accent like that – referring to my Long Island accent. Instead of letting his words discourage me, I used them as motivation to fuel my dreams. Determined to improve, I enrolled in classes to refine my accent, and to this day, I’m very aware of maintaining clarity in my speech.
Another pivotal moment came when I was let go from my first TV job after accidentally breaking a camera. Despite offering to fix it and pay for the damages, my boss insisted I needed to “grow up” and claimed I would never make it in the business. Rather than letting her words crush me, I took it as an opportunity to prove her wrong.
I dedicated myself to working on my skills, relentlessly practicing and refining my craft. Three months later, I landed an even better job in a city I dreamed of living in. That experience taught me a valuable lesson: I refuse to let critics bring me down; instead, I use their words as motivation to push myself further and grow stronger.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being a creative is the opportunity to tell other people’s stories. There’s something truly magical about stepping into someone else’s shoes, understanding their experiences, and giving voice to their journey.
