We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kristin Nobles . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kristin below.
Alright, Kristin thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
My art career started as a form of therapy, to help me deal with a chronic illness. As a result of debilitating disease I had two cardiac arrests, more than 40 surgeries, and spent hundreds of days, if not over a thousand days in the hospital and isolated at home. About 18 years ago a friend encouraged me to try art therapy as I was an avid artist in high school and really depressed. At first I played with the paints, colors and canvas and eventually found my style. I realized I loved painting people as black and white contemporary portraits, that allow us to embrace that people are truly shapes, not just colors. I then began to look to people that inspired be and had the capacity to B Noble and overcame adversity, and the collection was born. Over the past 15 years I have painted hundreds of icons and have grown so much learning their stories and contributing to their legacy. As my illness progressed and working became more difficult another friend who was a very accomplished artist said I should start showing the art and selling it. So I did and have been blessed to use my work as a sort of therapy and path to my cure. To everyone who said “You should sell those!” , Thank you. Your encouragement made me grow from a creative into an artist who now gets to use my art as a means to B Noble and help others. This year I was able to partner with an iconic creative director and will be releasing new formats, images and products via events that will raise funds for SickTitties.com a cause I started to help women like me battling breast implant illness, B.I.I. empowering me to become the Artivist I dreamed of and www.bnoblelifestyle.com was born.

Kristin , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Fans of my art also know me. as “The Sick Titties” chic or the B Noble lady. I am currently the CEO of a social impact company I formed to help social entrepreneurs like me that wanted to use their talent to make a difference. I started my career as an artist in Los Angeles as a way to raise awareness, and think most people were as drawn to my unbelievable story as much as my unique style. As one of the early patients diagnosed with Breast Implant Illness and the cancer associated with it, I began to be very vocal about Breast Implant and Medical Device Safety, I started doing shows to raise funds and awareness for treatment and have been blessed to be at top spots like Fashion Week to The House of Blues to the LA Library to the Pacific Design Center. As a contemporary POP artist my style is designed to challenge society to see people as shapes not color and as the unique art they are. I paint with Black Acrylic on white canvas, using gold paint as an accent . The collection includes icons like Jayzee to Beyonce to RBG, and the common theme is icons on a mission to B Noble. and be the change we need to see in the world. My hope is that through the art the collectors are inspired by the icons stories and empowered every day they see the work to know that anything is possible if you set out to B Noble.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being an impact artist, is the impact. I am blessed to be able to create in many formats, being it film, music, podcasting, writing, producing events and through my art. However when I paint I find my true independence as being an artist is the one place where I alone can make a statement and put my feelings into an image.
To then see people embrace the image, hear the icons story, and learn my story I hope to challenge how they see disabled or chronically ill people. If I painted this in a hospital, or during a round pf treatment then they can see anything is possible and that alone allows me to Dis Disability. I want people to look at those who are chronically ill and have talent as capable people full of inspiration and gifts. To get rid of the word Disability and open up the idea of Abilities. To realize that life is about what we can do, not what we can not and to reframe what it means to be a patient. I am proof you can create from anywhere and turn your pain into creative purpose. To embrace that being disabled or chronically ill does not mean suffering and pity, it can be a path to self discovery, growth and greatness. When I started painting I wanted to turn my pain into something beautiful and thanks to some great advocate and encouragement I hope I have.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
I personally hope we see the Art Business find new ways of financing artists to stay independent and have a more equitable opportunity for their creativity. The one area we have been exploring is the idea of “sponsored” collections to help fund the cost of creativity.
Our mission is to get talented artists with compelling causes to be sponsored by companies , like athletes are.. Imagine how far a little financial support would help an artist go from struggle to success, and the impact the art could have on communities. As we all know a picture can be worth a thousand words!
In a world where artists struggle to finance their work and are competing for limited grants, shows, etc.this model offers a creative way to make a difference with a corporate sponsor. I would love to be able to work with corporate partners to match them with artists who share their beliefs and support them financially so they can create art that campaigns for change.
Instead of advances against royalties. or hefty loans, this is an income opportunity and accelerates earnings. This would be a key way to help artists make money and a difference, and eliminate the struggle that prohibits many from pursuing their artistic dreams.
