We recently connected with Kristin Kenyon and have shared our conversation below.
Kristin, appreciate you joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I think anytime you forsake stability and an assured income to follow your dreams (especially in a field that is somewhat fringe) you’re taking a risk. Not just financially but with your heart. You’re putting all of your time, effort and money into an idea or passion you d cherish deeply. The thought of something so close to my heart failing or never taking off was one of the biggest fears I had when initially setting out to start my holistic healing business. I am grateful that I was able to work through those fears and quiet the nagging voice in my head just enough each day to let my passion, curiosity, and love for holistic and intuitive work to grow and develop. I couldn’t be happier with where I am personally and professionally because of it.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My interest in spirituality and the human mind has been a lifelong journey. I have a keen interest in marrying the spiritual and scientific when it comes to understanding trauma, disease, and well-being. I offer Hypnotherapy, Reiki, and acupressure to gently support and guide clients to the root of any problem they are having in order to bring awareness to their present day challenges. Awareness is key, when we become aware of the root cause of the problem or pattern we are engaging in, the soul immediately goes to work at releasing and healing that aspect of who you are.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
There is so much growth you go through as a business owner. There are so many limitations you have placed upon yourself your entire life and only when you are pushing the boundaries of who you are and what you think you are capable of do you come face to face with these shadowy aspects of yourself. So I’d say you must unlearn the limiting belief systems you have about your worth, your abilities, and your potentiality when embarking upon making your passion a career.
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
You have to really want to help people but you also have to have a strong passion for, and interest in, the work itself. I find the mind body soul connection fascinating and equally mystifying, it’s a field we have only scratched the surface of. Your passion and curiosity will get you through the self doubt and hard work it takes to start a business.
