We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kristin Green Spiech . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kristin below.

Hi Kristin , thanks for joining us today. Looking back at internships and apprenticeships can be interesting, because there is so much variety in people’s experiences – and often those experiences inform our own leadership style. Do you have an interesting story from that stage of your career that you can share with us?

I was a Colorist for 10years now I work with the Littleton school district as a paraprofessional. I have always been an artist at heart. Meeting Maggie from Vintage Proper was such a gift, not only do I get to learn a new form of art by restoring furniture, I found a best friend. It is truly amazing to see our kids play together as we bring pieces of furniture back to life.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I’m an artist at heart I was a hair Colorist for 10years in St. Paul, MN. I then became a full time mom of two amazing dudes and traveled the word with my love. We have moved 6 times in 7 years. MN, to Chicago to Sweden 🇸🇪 to Colorado. It has been an amazing experience working with Vintage Proper to get back into the creative process.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

Being a full time mom for 7 years made me realize how much I need a creative outlet. Now I work with Vintage Proper, with a great friend and an incredibly talented restorer/artist. My days are spent at Hopkins Elementary working with kids and the rest is being a mom, wife and now a furniture restorer as well. And I’m still doing hair on the side.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?

We at Vintage Proper have used social media platforms for most of our clients and they are truly in love with the work we do and incredibly supportive.
