We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kristie & Jared Miller. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kristie & Jared below.
Alright, Kristie & Jared thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love for you to start by sharing your thoughts about the pros and cons of family businesses.
We stared Springs Wood Design as a woman owned but family run business. The road to get here was a long one but we are proud of what we are building and the quality and time we commit to each project.
Working together as a family has its challenges but our understanding and respect we have for each other always prevail. We find that our shared values and commitment to quality are what drive us and make our work meaningful.
When customer comes to us, they are not just another order – we treat them like part of our family, putting care and craftsmanship into every piece we create, whether its a mantel, shelves, table or built in cabinets.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I, Kristie, began refinishing furniture approx 10 years ago. It began as a hobby and a creative outlet while raising two young children and caring for for my Veteran father who had Parkinson’s Disease. Jared worked for over 25 years in the pool and spa industry but has always been extremely talented when it came to wood working. After a move from Florida to Colorado and the shift in the world that the pandemic caused, we decided to join forces and create a family wood working business. We decided to focus on smaller jobs where we could really let our talents shine and to use a portion of all proceeds to give back to the community we love. We have continued to refinish some furniture pieces for select clients but are focusing on custom wood working projects within the home.
Some of the items we have built are: mantels, floating shelves, shelving units, desk tops, built in cabinets, wet bars, barn doors, ship-lap accent walls, slat wood accent walls and we especially love working with live edge wood to build custom tables and benches.
We truly work with our customers and their vision of what they want in each piece. We pride ourselves on our quality and attention to detail. The thrill we get when we see our clients smile make us realize we are doing what matters!
I mentioned that we give a portion of proceeds back to the community. We focus our charitable contributions to the individuals with special needs and veterans. My, (Kristie) younger brother had sever Cerebral Palsy and unfortunately passed away when he was only 25. This shaped who I am as a person and has always fueled my love in giving back to those with special needs.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Our best source of clients has always been word of mouth! Which that speaks volumes!

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Every project and every customer is different. So we take the time to get to know them and create each custom piece to their unique specifications.
