Well, I didn’t set out to start a business. I set out to heal. After years of feeling like my hair was working against me, I realized it wasn’t my hair that was the problem, it was the toxic messaging and ingredients we were taught to accept. Angelic Organics was born from my personal journey to reclaim beauty on my own terms and help others do the same, without compromise.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I’m Kristian Franklin, the founder and formulator behind Angelic Organics, a plant-based, luxury hair care brand created with textured hair at the center of the story. My journey into this industry wasn’t traditional. I didn’t come from a corporate beauty background. I came from lived experience. For years, I struggled to find products that actually worked for my natural curls. They were either filled with harsh, unsafe ingredients or they left my hair dry, brittle, and disconnected from the healthy coils I knew were possible. At 20, I did the “big chop” and started experimenting in my kitchen with ancestral, plant-based remedies passed down through generations. What began as a personal search for healing eventually grew into a brand with a mission much bigger than myself.

Angelic Organics offers a full ritual-based product line—including our Crown Cleanse Mint Clarifying Shampoo, Root Therapy Deep Moisture Conditioner, Halo Butter Leave-In Cream, and Sacred Drip Strengthening Hair & Scalp Oil. We also created a Discovery Kit, a travel-friendly set designed to help people build a healthy hair routine without overwhelm. Every formula is handcrafted, 100% plant-based, EU-compliant, and designed to restore moisture, promote growth, and heal scalp and hair health from the inside out.

But what really sets Angelic Organics apart is our purpose: we’re not just selling hair care, we’re helping people heal generational hair trauma. For too long, women with textured hair have been told their curls are “unprofessional” or “unruly.” That narrative not only damages confidence, it disconnects us from our roots, our beauty, and even our cultural identity. Angelic Organics exists to shift that standard. We celebrate curls as luxury, as worthy, and as powerful. Each product is paired with affirmations, because wash day isn’t just about hair, it’s about self-love and confidence.

I’m most proud of the impact we’re already having. In the last year alone, Angelic Organics has been featured on national stages, partnered with organizations like Black Women for Wellness, and been selected as a finalist for the BOTOX® Cosmetic Confidence Project. Most importantly, we’ve had women write to us saying our products helped them finally feel beautiful in their natural hair for the first time in years. That’s why I do this.

If there’s one thing I’d want readers to know, it’s this: Angelic Organics isn’t just a hair care line. It’s a movement. It’s about creating safer, cleaner, more effective products for textured hair, while also building a community that redefines beauty standards. My hope is that every time someone uses our products, they’re not just caring for their hair—they’re reclaiming their confidence, their halo, and their place in the world.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn was the idea that cutting all my hair off—the “big chop”—would automatically solve everything. I transitioned from chemically straightened hair to natural, thinking that if I just started over, I’d instantly feel connected to my curls. But the truth is, I didn’t. I spent years trying to embrace my natural hair, but without the right tools, knowledge, or products, I still felt disconnected. I even started to believe the lie that I just had “bad hair.”

What I came to understand is that it’s not about cutting your hair off—it’s about loving your hair the way it is, as it grows from your head. It’s about recognizing that what makes you unique is actually your superpower. You don’t need to mimic someone else’s curls or routines. You need to embrace your own, nurture them, and stand in confidence with what you were given.

That realization is the heart of Angelic Organics. For me, “reclaiming your halo” isn’t just about healthy curls—it’s about rewriting the story. It’s about shifting from seeing your hair as a burden to seeing it as a crown, a source of pride, and a reflection of who you are. That’s the movement I’m building.

Okay – so how did you figure out the manufacturing part? Did you have prior experience?

Yes, I manufacture all of Angelic Organics’ products myself. My journey started from a place of frustration. I couldn’t seem to grow my hair no matter what I tried. I was using products that were marketed toward curly and textured hair, but they were often filled with harsh, harmful ingredients and lacked the proper science to actually nourish and protect our hair. Without understanding the right techniques or using the right products, I felt stuck and disconnected from my natural curls.

That frustration led me to take matters into my own hands. I enrolled in a UK-accredited school taught by chemists and biologists who specialize in European cosmetic regulations, which are some of the strictest in the world when it comes to clean and safe beauty. Once I earned my certification, I began formulating my own products at home. During that process, my hair finally started thriving—it was growing, staying moisturized, and I felt a deeper connection to it than ever before. For the first time, I wasn’t just managing my curls—I was appreciating them.

That transformation inspired me to share what I had learned with others. Today, every Angelic Organics product is handmade and quality-checked by me. Each formula is backed by science, designed to promote growth, restore moisture, and strengthen textured hair while being safe for the body and biodegradable for the environment. I wanted to create products that actually heal—not just style—because our community deserves hair care that truly works and helps us feel confident in our natural beauty.
