Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kristi Oliver. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kristi , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
As a brand strategist, I have spent many years researching, consuming, and sharing as much information on branding as possible. But I quickly discovered that God is THE ULTIMATE master strategist, and His brand remains unmatched. In fact, God stamped his name upon the heads of the 144,000 in the book of Revelation to show others that they are of his brand!
Just as many companies and businesses are readily recognized by their brand, God tells us in Ephesians 1:13 that we are BrandedandMarked™ for His glory. He has provided us with a precise handbook on His expectations of us. Therefore, I hope my legacy will continue to bring to life the business, ministry, and entrepreneurial pursuits God has given others to make the impact He specifically designed them to create in His Kingdom.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have always carried a strong entrepreneurial spirit. Even as a child, I always knew I would be an entrepreneur. I started and failed many endeavors over the years. However, after a 15-year career in health care, I grew weary and yearned for more. I knew that I had more to give the world. I felt a constant, yet gentle, tug from God that it was time to go, but I was scared. Each day I was determined to stay in a position that was no longer my calling felt like a small portion of my soul died. I was miserable!
A sudden and unexpected displacement from my long-term position caused a shift in my thinking and life path. It opened my mind to the possibilities of working outside of research. I was confident that I could support my family with my God-given creative talents and strategic skills for the first time while finding my niche in the digital world as a brand strategist.
As a scientist (trained and at heart), I taught myself how to use graphic design programs and learned to be very efficient in building websites on the self-hosted WordPress platform. I started with a few clients and grew steadily over the years through repeat customers and word-of-mouth advertising. As an introvert, working behind the scenes was perfect.
At the House of KRISTIONNE™, we build meaningful relationships with our clients and their brands. We believe in the excellence of our client’s products, services, and brands. And we have confidence in the team of people that drive your continued growth.
We understand the level of trust required to select a new partner along your journey to collaborate in your results. We value your trust, and you can rely on our integrity, expertise, and commitment to your success, making the House of KRISTIONNE™ a valuable partner.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Word of mouth. It is an industry standard, and it still works! I always remind my clients that we are living, breathing, and walking billboards of our brands. Every opportunity your customer has to engage with your brand has the power to generate thoughts, feelings, emotions, personal identification, and even spiritual connections. Use each opportunity wisely.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I remember sitting up straight in my bed while on a holiday break and realizing I. CAN’T. DO. IT. Then, it felt like someone was taking a knife, cutting open my soul, and draining every fiber of my being. I could literally feel all of my energy leave my body. I’ve failed miserably, I thought—my life was in shambles.
The tears begin to roll down my face. I knew I could not continue at the pace I was going because I was not going anywhere. I was walking around in a circle. I never completed anything. I would start new projects and new endeavors, not resolve anything I had started. At that exact moment, I found my moment of truth—a truth I needed to understand and have with myself. A truth only I could realize on my own. No matter what others had told me in the past, it finally clicked in MY head! What a wonderful and scary thing to occur at the very same time.
I knew I had to make a change. A change that would not be popular and one that many would need help understanding because it might not make sense to some in the flesh. I needed to eliminate all the things that were not essential in my life and then add one thing back at a time to see how I could better manage and create the life of balance God intended for me.
In this day and age, where technology has us busier than ever with overbooked schedules, lack of communication, preoccupation with meetings, social media, and other distractions, I took a firm posture to regain my power with this tiny two-letter word, “No.” It’s not always the popular answer, but it was the one to bring the peace and balance I needed. It is the answer I am now OK with unapologetically saying so I can be a better person and more consistent with those that need me.
