We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kristi M Spann. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kristi below.
Kristi, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Early in your career, how did you think through the decision of whether to start your own firm or join an established firm?
When I first started out as a real estate agent, I joined a large brokerage firm. This firm had what I was looking for in a brokerage, a sense of belonging, and lots of education. This was my first brokerage, so I knew I made the right decision. After a little over a year, I decided to switch to a smaller firm. I switched because they were more hands-on with their agents. They give me more insight and better on-the-job training. They are always there when I have any questions or want to share any of my ideas with them.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I always wanted to work as a real estate agent. When I was in college, I started taking classes pertaining to real estate. My dream job was on hold because I am a single parent. So, I worked for the government for several years, until my children graduated from high school. Now they are older, I am able to fully focus on my career as a real estate.
To be a great real estate agent, one has to be a people person with a positive attitude. One also has to be patient. Many people have questions pertaining to real estate and look to real estate agents to answer them accurately. I am as honest as I can be, even if I don’t know an answer to a real estate question. My approach to a question that I don’t know the answer is to let that person know that I will have to do some research and get back to them. I don’t like giving anyone misinformation, so it’ll be best if I do my research and get back to that person with correct information.
What I am most proud of are my clients having a genuine smile on their faces. Helping clients finding their dream home is so satisfying for me. I also love giving house-warming gifts; it’s like the icing on the cake. I will work around the clock, if needed, to make sure my clients are satisfied with my services.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
It’s a combination of open houses and social media. I make it a point to post daily. That lets potential clients know that I am here, knowledgeable, and ready to assist them. I also host open houses. This is an effective way to have face-to-face interactions with potential clients.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I keep in touch with my clients by call/text, and emails. I also reach out to them via social media. I always want to make sure that my clients know that I’m here and available for them.
