We recently connected with Kristi Bachan and have shared our conversation below.
Kristi, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
I’m proud to be an entrepreneur and business owner. There were challenging times, especially coming out of the pandemic, where I’ve wondered if I should go back to working for someone. I would think to myself “I have a BA degree, a great resume, tons of experience, I could get a job no problem.” In a way, it’s easier to have a routine job, tasks laid out and a steady paycheck. There is less to think about. I sat with this thought and realized that it arose from a lack of self trust and self confidence. I wasn’t believing that I had all the tools, knowledge and power to take control and succeed. It’s always been easier for me to give my time & skills to others, but I needed to redirect that energy towards myself. Owning a business is not easy, there is alot of responsibility and time management but I love what I do. I’ve worked really hard to get where I am, especially as a female immigrant. So, for me, that thought of returning to a regular job just fades away.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I own a real estate and property management company, Inhabit Luxury. I’ve always been a creative and never actually planned on getting into real estate. After earning my BA in graphic design, I was hired as Creative Director for a top broker in Miami Beach. I worked on marketing materials for some of the most glamorous properties in Miami. When I was offered the opportunity to earn my real estate license, I took it. I quickly became Luxury Rental Director, managing multi million dollar listings and renting to celebrity clients such as Lady Gaga, Jay Z and Marshmello. I made my first big sale in 2018 and then formed my own business focusing on real estate rentals, sales and property management. One of the services I offer that really sets me apart is luxury vacation rental management. Clients who invest in Miami work with me because they trust me to find that perfect balance of quality renters and high rental income.
I see real estate as not just selling or renting homes, but helping my clients curate their lifestyle. For this, it’s important to ask the right questions and connect with my clients on a level where I genuinely understand their needs.
Being heavily involved in the Miami community, working with artists, hosting events, being active and into watersports also translates into my business. It allows me to be a well balanced professional and have knowledge of all the sides of Miami of which not many people are aware.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I think having a good reputation goes hand in hand with being authentic. When I first started out, it took some time to figure out my niche. But through it all I tried to stay true to myself, my morals and values. These are the aspects of your character that people will connect with most, and also will attract the clients you want to work with.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
A major pivot in my life was when I decided to start my own business. I was working really hard at my job but burning the candle at both ends and feeling a bit lost in life as well. I found my yoga practice around this time and this really helped me to take a step back, assess what was important and change direction.
