We were lucky to catch up with Kristen Trinh recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kristen, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I went to Culinary School and Graduated back in 2007 with the idea that I wanted to be a private chef. To me it’s not just making good food for people to enjoy but educating people what they are putting in their bodies. I started during Culinary school gaining clients that I cook in home for and did catering events.
My question I asked myself is how can I make this taste even better and healthier? I then went on to learn more about Dietary needs and Recipe hacking. I studied every Dietary plan out there to allow myself to gain the knowledge to open up the doors to specifically cook for clients with dietary needs. I grew with passion knowing I was helping those in need of needing to loose weight or health issues etc.
Back during Covid 2021 I lost most my business due to people not wanting someone in their home while guaranteed so I started my own meal delivery service. I thought to myself how do I advertise for this? Well I went onto Facebook forums and posted that I was starting a new service which blew up just in the city that I live in. I have expanded to the surrounding cities just by posting for free on Facebook forums which has been a huge success.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
What makes me stand out differently than other meal delivery services is the Quality of ingredients that I use in my meals. From learning how to recipe hack I have been able to extend my knowledge. Everything I make is from scratch, Dressings, Marinara Sauces, Marinades etc. It’s all made from scratch with quality ingredients. So as this saying goes….. Everything is made with love.
How did you build your audience on social media?
This is the most important lesson to learn!!! It’s all about social media. I will admit I am not very internet savvy but my daughter is. We sat down and opened up a Yelp, Facebook Page, TikTok, Instagram and Google page. Everything can be done using these tools and the best part its free. I. then learned to join Facebook forums so I could advertise within my city and surrounding cities. Once that picked up it then became with of mouth. If you refer someone you get a discount. Trust me people appreciate that you acknowledge them.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
Client retention is huge. I had to learn why some people wouldn’t come back to place orders. I had personally reached out to ask their feedback of my meals, packing flavor etc to get a response. Knowing that they had a voice and that I actually cared made a huge difference. Again word of mouth and referrals is extremely helpful.
