We were lucky to catch up with Kristen Thomasino recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kristen, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
The Social Good Movement is about community, connecting people to others doing social good. It’s not just about current events, it’s about the many pieces and many players that make up social good. The application Buddytown, available on Apple and Android, is a strategic addition; it brings in other network partners in various ways to provide more value. You can find out about support groups, resources, Buddytown Network opportunities, The Social Good Experiment, The Social Good Conferences, The Social Good Magazine, and more, all designed to make you feel part of something bigger.
The Social Good News is about amplifying voices and stories; you can access that anywhere on the web. The Social Good News, part of the Social Good Magazine series, is a platform dedicated to amplifying the voices and stories of individuals committed to making a positive impact. As the host and founder, I am passionate about highlighting the efforts of social good warriors from diverse backgrounds, including global economists, philanthropists, veterans, songwriters, filmmakers, and human rights advocates. Recently, I decided to incorporate artificial intelligence to share topics on solving problems in our world, explicitly focusing on America.
Creating 50 articles with AI was a strategic decision to ensure a consistent and diverse range of content that inspires and informs our audience. AI technology allowed us to produce high-quality articles efficiently, providing a broader platform for stories that might otherwise go unheard. This approach saved time and enhanced the richness and variety of our content, making it accessible to a global audience.
The Social Good News, www.socialgoodmagazine.com/stories, is a beacon of hope and inspiration, showcasing the extraordinary efforts of individuals dedicated to creating a better world. Through these stories, we aim to not just motivate, but empower others to take action and join the movement for social good. If we can continue to talk about the tough issues and focus on how we can solution for success, my bet is we can change the mood of the country to take productive actions for positive outcomes.
Kristen, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I suffer from a condition called Fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia is one of the most painful conditions on the planet. I had several unexpected events and inputs that contributed to why I was experiencing high levels of pain and reduced performance in my form. I lived my life very structured and still follow certain principles to maintain my levels of reduced suffering. What’s very important about my story is the potential for cross-over for others who have experienced symptoms daily. By studying multiple conditions, my team and I could determine the trends involved and why I would progress. I had to be super diligent for many years, inspecting and being aware of my environment due to my form’s weakened state. I learned that some specific triggers and things can make my condition worse or better. It’s been a process of trial and error. Part of that was this desire to research across many topics faster. The recent releases of Artificial Intelligence are crucial because we can quickly assess various scenarios to take paths for productive outcomes. We have so many areas of our society that would benefit greatly from a shared understanding of ways forward that many can understand. Fibromyalgia taught me to think about things in bite-sized pieces and unravel the mysteries of why and then how to move forward. I think our communities can take action in bite size pieces and move forward peacefully and with leadership that leads to social good.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Resilience is so important. I am sure everyone has been faced with it recently. For now, put yourself in my shoes, and try starting businesses during the pandemic, unrest, and recent years. Any business owner who’s tried to stay in business has faced many uphill battles. It requires various strategies and patience. Patience is needed to know that most social media channels today are filled with advertisers spreading harmful propaganda. That’s why I decided to create an element for news. To counter the negativity and share stories about social good. How could I use the robots (Artificial Intelligence) for social good to move faster? How could I blend that with the voices of today that people could recognize and listen to? That’s what the Social Good News became. It is a way to share ideas about solutions for our problems, teams to join, individuals to follow, people to get mentorship from, and ways to create new business opportunities amongst organizations. The good news is that the Social Good News is making that happen. I am so grateful for the many interviews I’ve been able to conduct with some outstanding individuals and cover some events around California and elsewhere. The opportunity to uplift our communities with ways forward is necessary when it seems as if some among us would seek violence over the task of creating peace.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Product development teaches us the concept of the ‘minimum viable product’ and the importance of focus. As a scrum master, you’re trained to steer clear of distractions. Once the product is released, you learn from the past and move forward. Life, too, is a learning process. Some experiences will align with your time and energy, while others won’t. The beauty of it is that people learn in various ways, each experience contributing to their growth in a unique way. My personal experiences, particularly in project management and communication, have shaped the development of The Social Good Experiment, a program that aims to help healthcare providers enhance these skills.
I have created many ways for people to learn about my personal life experiences, those of others, and points of view to consider. I recognized though after I created The Social Good News and The Social Good Conferences that a program was still necessary. One that our healthcare providers could utilize to drive patient accountability and communication. That’s when I decided to fund and finalize the development of The Social Good Experiment, a program specifically designed to enhance communication and project management skills among healthcare providers. This new program is ready for market and to aid our specialists. I knew the next evolution of what I could teach others outside of my books, the application, Buddytown Network, the Social Good Conferences, The Social Good Magazine and Show, and The Social Good News was to help with communication and project management. Be a collaborative partner with the healthcare professionals. The execution of the ideas I’ve been sharing in these various content pieces next generation. Pivoting and being ready to design or create on multiple platforms has been key to continuing to grow my overall audiences across all my channels.
