Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kristen Russell. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kristen , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
After having my first child, I lost a sense of who I was from not recognizing the person I saw in the mirror due to the physical postpartum changes. I wanted to help other moms, like myself, love themselves again and gain back their confidence. This pushed me to becoming a personal trainer who specializes in women’s fitness.

Kristen , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a certified personal trainer and glute specialist. I got into the fitness industry by wanting to improve my own health and physical appearance after pregnancy and postpartum complications.
I offer personal training services in person and virtually, create customized meal plan guides to help others with nutritional goals, and have 3 personal training e-books for people to follow at home at their own pace. My services and products are designed to help those who have little time to go to the gym, can’t always workout at a gym, don’t know what foods to eat, or need a workout routine designed for them.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I started my fitness journey in 2018 a year after having my daughter and reaching my heaviest weight of 262lbs. After so long of being unhappy with myself, I decided to prioritize my overall wellbeing. From there I made improvements to my diet and started working out consistently at home. I didn’t have much money as a new mom for a personal trainer or a gym membership and I never had a sitter to get gym time in. This pushed me to start working at home with minimal equipment, just consistency and discipline. Within my first year and a half of taking my fitness journey seriously I was able to lose 50lbs and drop down 3 pant sizes. I posted my workouts and social media and inspired others by my results. Then one day someone asked me to help them with working out and the rest has been history.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I had every excuse in the book to stop working towards my goals. I was a single mother, full time employee, and college student. I could have easily quit before I fully got started.
I had to remember my reasons on why I wanted to pursue this journey. I had to learn to give myself grace and acknowledge my small wins along the way that lead to big goals accomplished. My biggest reason to keep going was knowing there was another person depending on me. There was nothing I would allow to keep me from being the best version of myself for my daughter. Now that I have two beautiful children who love fitness has been so rewarding and worth being resilient.
