We recently connected with Kristen Bell and have shared our conversation below.
Kristen, appreciate you joining us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I attended O’Brien’s Aveda Institute fall of 2018 – 2019. Previous to that I did two years of cosmetology and science education while in HS which greatly kept me ahead of the game during my credited schooling. Post graduation and state boards, thus becoming a professional licensed cosmetologist I began my work at a small salon about 30 minutes from my home town. I signed up for a balayage and hair cutting class immediately, offered by Redken and by 2020 I had completed a third course in hair coloring formulating in Redken color.
In 2022 I had gained residency in Utah and advanced my skills with over 8 courses in curly hair cutting all offered by CurlVision. I took the opportunity to shadow two artists in SLC that work with curly hair. That wasn’t enough for me. I learned about ingredient formulations and the importance of avoiding more than just the sulfates and parabens that are more openly negatively advertised. I spent close an entire semesters worth of learning the science behind hair and the way it respond to chemicals, working with both the Redken brand and learning to rebrand to reflect my preferred values and haircare brands.
I find it more motivating to know the why behind things and not just that it works. It’s good to provide the service well and also be able to educate the person on the chair for their own home care.
The only obstacle is time ! I want to continue my education in business, marketing, finance and additional hair skills it’s just about finding the time to balance it all efficiently.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Kristen!
I recently rebranded my business and opened in a salon in Logan, UT @BellBeauty02 or BellBeauty !
I’ve been interested in the Beauty and wellness industry since I was a kid and worked hard to make these dreams come to life before I even graduated high school.
I’m a hairstylist that specializes in vivid color, curly cuts and lived in / sun kissed balayage transformations or transitions.
It is a non hate, fully supportive space in my chair. I have multiple different availability schedules to specifically enable you to schedule for your services in a more quiet space. The world is so busy and loud. I love to provide my clients some relaxation as well as hair growth stimulation tricks, without the stress of excessive noise or a rushed feeling.
I do work with vegan brands so I am happy to attract the local yoga instructors or a mom who wants to feel beautiful but be able to go longer between sessions but have the tools to know what brands are safe for her and her baby.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Even if I am not your stylist. Just a follow and a like on social media helps!
Sharing a business online or via word of mouth means the absolute world to me.
I love finding my people. ♥️
If you have the means to, upgrading your services helps me have extra financial means to contribute to the growth of my business. Continued education or business development is the goal I keep for every single year. That gets accomplished through exceeding my financial goals each month/year.
A thank you ! That’s always the best! When the person in your chair expresses their love of an entrepreneur’s dedication to their craft is so motivating in keeping the drive up in working harder each day.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Other then my obvious that you’ll get to know as I get to know you . . . Aka the best vegan versions of your skin and hairs needs, routines, products I have a goal to break the assumption that stylists are uneducated, lazy, and give “mean girl” energy.
I am here to help you. And not just the days of your appointments. I’m here to help you continue a pattern of self love and beauty longevity. Help you set yourself up for success with better routines for better at home results, which by the way make hair day with me even more exciting because I’m here to celebrate with you!
I’ve also previously expressed the color them of my websites / socials pages. It’s in honor of my brother life. In here for you no matter what medical or emotional heartbreak you are going through. I want people to feel safe and secure in themselves and in their connections to others.
Hopefully I can provide a good laugh too. I’m always dropping something :)
