We were lucky to catch up with Krista Vanterpool recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Krista thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
When I started brainstorming names, “sunflower” kept coming to mind. I love what sunflowers stand for – admiration, joy, and longevity. As I delved into the world of natural stones, I learned that many originated from different parts of the massive African continent. It felt right to honor that with the name of my natural gemstone jewelry business, so I decided on Alizeti, which means sunflower in Swahili. Just as sunflowers always turn towards the sun, I hope that jewelry will always remind you to seek out what brings you joy and happiness.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hello! I’m Krista – a gemologist (think certified gem nerd) and owner of Alizeti Fine Jewelry. I got into this industry after losing my engagement ring at the beach and falling in love with the process of creating a new one! I love creating with clients, curating natural diamond and gemstone jewelry collections, and guiding clients to find the perfect pieces.
I believe in timeless styles with intentional design. Whether it’s a stunning engagement ring, a meaningful pendant gift, or a special gemstone treat for yourself, each piece from Alizeti Fine reflects my dedication to quality. I’m proud of the core values that guide everything I do: ethics, creativity, trust, and authenticity. I’m blessed to work with suppliers who ethically source materials and stay environmentally conscious, using 100% recycled metals when possible. I truly find joy in helping folks celebrate their special moments with metal and natural gems.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Word of mouth! I love being dedicated to my clients, and it’s always awesome when they share their love of their piece with someone else. Being discovered because of a recommendation from a happy jewelry lover is incredibly rewarding and motivates me to keep delivering exceptional service and beautiful jewelry.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I am still learning and growing within my industry every day, but studying at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) for months allowed me to gain in-depth knowledge of gemstone and diamond properties, enhancing my ability to assist clients with expert guidance. That experience was wonderful and life-changing for me. During my time at GIA, I gained valuable knowledge and built a trusted network of remarkable individuals who support me in being the best I can be for my clients!
