Krista, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
We all remember the year 2020…. mask mandate requirements in a medical clinic for 8 long hours each day was the start to my skin issues. I hated that my skin felt suffocated under the mask. I tried to keep a healthy glow, but I was defeated by dry, flaky skin that soon developed acne at the age of 40. Once the mask mandate was lifted, I evaluated my skin and consulted an esthetician and dermatologist. They recommendation high-cost treatment options that I felt was unnecessary. I also felt like another person sitting in a busy waiting room waiting for my number to be called. I didn’t feel there was a personal touch to the entire process. I soon learned how to do those recommended treatments for myself at a fraction of the cost. I saved myself money, so I wanted to help others save money, especially for those who were also suffering with the same kind of skin issues. That is how KQ Aesthetics was created. My treatment room is a safe and tranquil space with the everyday person in mind, personalized treatment plans that are tailored to their needs and budget. I provide regenerative skin care treatments, medical grade skin care products and wellness options for better health such has RED light therapy hot sauna and ionic foot detox baths, chemical peels, PRP microneedling, neurotoxin injections, PCA medical grade skin care products and personalized facial options based on individual needs. I offer free consultations which allows me to have a one-on-on conversation so they can better understand the treatment options. I have many educational videos and pictures to help them better understand skin anatomy. My passion is educating the person in non- medical terms, so they better understand their bodies. I have had the honor of being selected to the Better Business Bureau in under 2 years of service. Let me help you age gracefully.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a Navy Nurse Veteran who served during Iraqi Freedom. I have been a nurse for 20 years with the last 7 years as a Nurse Practitioner. I have owned KQ Aesthetics since May 2023. I was instructed by a wonderful dermatologist in Scottsdale, Az who was so patient with me. I am a mother of two and married for 20 years to my high school sweetheart. I enjoy giving back to my community in service projects. My brand is about helping women and men age gracefully with regenerative treatment options and medical grade skin care products. As a sole owner and operator, I am dedicated to providing precise communication regarding realistic expectations, close monitoring after a treatment sessions and one-on-one texting/phone calls for scheduling and rescheduling appointments. There will never be a middleman to communicate through, they will only talk to me, their personal skin provider.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
My most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been word of mouth and pop ups. I host an annual Halloween Pop up vendor event that allows other small business owners showcase their talents. Word of mouth from friends and family sharing their skin health with others has led to my referral program.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I keep in touch with clients and foster a “golden rule” brand loyalty by personally calling or texting them asking how they are doing and how their skin feels after each treatment. if there are any issues, I talk each client through the process of how to make it better. I provide solutions to make their experience better. I don’t care if they are friends, family or a new client, I call every client. I love to hear their feedback. This is when I recommend, they share with their friends, follow me on FB/ IG and write a review on Google and BBB.
