We recently connected with Krista Long and have shared our conversation below.

Krista , appreciate you joining us today. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later?

Looking back, I wish I had started my business earlier in life. It was in 2013, just two months after becoming a Certified Event Planner, that I took the leap. Naively, I thought clients would flock to me right away, allowing me to leave my day job within a month. Boy, was I wrong! As a creative soul, I’ve always wanted to avoid traditional jobs. Even in college, I steered clear of Job Fairs, feeling there was something more fulfilling out there for me. Event planning wasn’t always my dream; it was a passion that unexpectedly found me. But being a multifaceted creative, I discovered the joy of event design, where every project is unique and allows me to freely express my creative spirit. If I could turn back time, I would have pursued a dual degree in Business (Marketing) and Event Design, and sought an apprenticeship to learn the ropes and build a client base. This would have launched me further ahead. I’m grateful for my journey and now aim to make others’ paths smoother by sharing my experiences.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

My name is Krista Long. I am a passionate, dedicated individual with a kind and enthusiastic spirit. As the owner of Krista’s Event Koncepts LLC, a boutique event planning and design services company, I take pride in delivering exceptional event experiences. While we may be a smaller company, our team is highly skilled and committed to providing stylish, classy, and professional event planning services. With a focus on customer service, we strive to bring a fresh and creative design execution to every event we undertake. Our primary objective is to deliver a luxurious experience without burdening our clients financially. We maintain competitive pricing, aiming to exceed our clients’ expectations by providing exceptional value. At Krista’s Event Koncepts LLC, we are proud to offer comprehensive event planning services for both corporate and social gatherings. Our specialization lies in creating extraordinary experiences for Milestone Birthday Celebrations, ensuring that these important occasions are celebrated in a truly memorable fashion. We take great pride in our ability to design unique and budget-friendly events, making our services accessible to a diverse range of clients. Throughout our journey, we have successfully expanded our skillset to cater to corporate clientele, securing contracts with small businesses nationwide. Our ultimate goal is to provide our services to anyone in need, regardless of their location. With our national certification in Events since 2012 and international certification since 2019, we are driven to establish our presence on a global scale, with event consulting services at the forefront of our expansion strategy.
I take great pride in my unwavering dedication to my craft. Despite facing challenges and discouragement along the way, I have used those experiences as fuel to propel me forward. Reaching the milestone of a decade in business this year is a true testament to my perseverance. To commemorate this achievement, we organized multiple online Live Decade Sip Shows and YouTube Lessons, culminating in a grand Finale Decade Sip Shop experience. We invited friends, family, past clients, and the general public to join us in celebrating this significant milestone. It was an incredible celebration that highlighted our journey thus far. As we look ahead, we are excited for the growth and success that the next 10 years will bring.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

You know, one of the most fulfilling things about being an Event Designer is the freedom it gives me. In this world, everywhere you turn, there are rules to follow – rules at work, rules in society. But with my designs, there are no bounds, no limitations within the budget of course. Actually with lower budgets the more creative you have to be to make the vision come to life. I can let my imagination run wild or reign it in, depending on what I need for a particular event design. I have complete autonomy, and that’s what I find most exhilarating. Special event design is never about exactness; it’s about bringing my vision to life while still catering to the client’s preferences. My goal is to constantly wow my clients, surprising them with an end result they never could have imagined. That’s what truly excites me – that element of surprise and delight when they walk into the room and our team reveals the final design.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

At the core of my creative drive lies a deep-seated talent and a heartfelt mission to assist individuals in bringing their unique visions to life seamlessly. We understand that not everyone possesses the skills or resources to plan an event, let alone have an abundance of funds to make it a reality. Clients entrust us as experts to help them realize their vision without feeling overwhelmed. Our utmost priority is to alleviate all concerns and worries from our clients’ minds, ensuring a stress-free event planning experience. Within our company, my personal aspiration is to witness its flourishing growth, expanding our team while maintaining the close-knit atmosphere of a boutique consulting company. Ultimately, we aim to become a trusted household name, evolving into an agency renowned for its exceptional services. Event planning comes naturally to me—it’s as instinctive as breathing. Reassuring my clients and relieving their anxieties is truly my calling, and it brings me indescribable joy. Building a team that shares these values and principles remains at the forefront of my priority list.
