Krista, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
I have been so fortunate to create many meaningful items so it is hard to pick just one. Many times I created jewelry pieces for birthday gifts or anniversary’s, or a mother of the groom. I have designed items specifically for fund raising for animal rescue organizations as well. So these are one of a kind items and people respond very emotionally, it’s incredibly rewarding. One particularly touching story was when a client came to me for one of my dreamcatchers to be personalized for her friend who had recently lost her son. She wanted some way to incorporate the son’s personal items into the dreamcatcher. I strung little glass containers with cork tops into the dreamcatcher so the mother could put his baby teeth or little sweet notes he had written to her or pieces of something he loved into the containers. A Precious little time capsule woven into the dreamcatcher. I felt the dreamcatcher was a symbol for all the many dreams they had for him that were unfulfilled and a way to catch and hold his dreams and honor his life. As a mother I could feel her heartbreak and longing to carry his heart with her always. I was told the mother adored it. I have heard back many times that people cried after receiving an item I have made for a special occasion. There is no better feeling than to connect to people in that very personal way. Pure joy.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I have always been creative. I loved arts and crafts in camp and the only part of school I ever enjoyed was my art classes. I was fortunate enough to grow up in a small midwestern town in Iowa that had a very progressive and high quality public school. The art classes in my junior high gave me an amazing creative foundation. In the class we were able to freely explore many types of mediums from drawing and painting to clay sculpture and pottery and macrame and weaving and many other mediums.
I had originally started my professional life in the healing arts and was trained as a Clinical and Alchemical Hypnotherapist which is a special type of healing modality. It empowers people to work in the subconscious mind to resolve and release childhood trauma and connect people to their own inner guidance particularly the inner child through archetypes. Think Carl Jung.
When I had my children and they began to grow, it was increasingly difficult to see clients so I decided to focus on raising my boys and feeding my desire for deeper spiritual growth.
I also struggled with health issue’s that would take me into an entirely different direction in my healing arts field which has now expanded exponentially.
At a certain point as a stay at home mom I desperately needed an outlet for creative expression and began exploring some of the mediums I had enjoyed so much in my youth. I found that if I connected to something from my heart and found beauty in creating it that it had great healing value to me and to others as well.
My design business was completely born from a space of healing and the joy of connection. My own self healing and self connection and then the healing and connection to others. That is it’s root.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
The past 2 years of the pandemic have been the most difficult challenge of my life. I got covid very early on in the pandemic and developed what is now called long covid. It has taken me over 2 years to recover and there were very dark scary moments trying to regain my health with very little treatment options or information about my condition.
I was unable to create and my health and business was shattered. I had to completely rebuild my body and mind.
I had to dig very deep into many healing modalities to recover. I found amazing help from some incredible human beings. Dr. Sayed Haider’s online covid clinic is a good place to get your bearings, so helpful. I also found the most incredible compassionate Traditional Chinese Doctor here in Atlanta that walk every step with me holding my hand. I also utilized the Wim Hof method and cold therapy as well as full spectrum infrared saunas with red light therapy.
I have to give a special note of respect and appreciation to the healing methods of Dr. and Master Zhi Gang Sha, a world renowned healer. His profound multi faceted quantum healing techniques were the most essential to my recovery hands down. The times we live in now and the types of threats we are under are unprecedented we need extraordinary measures to combat it. He provides hope for the hopeless. He did it form me, and gave me the tools that empowered me to rebuild my shattered body and life. Beyond extraordinary.
I am now feeling creative again and my energy and joy is coming back. I’m not sure what direction life will take me now but the only thing I am carrying forward is gratitude for my life, and a joyful heart and soul, so I will be traveling light.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I love it when you can see in a person’s eyes or hear in someone’s voice when they have been uplifted or moved or inspired by what you create or say or do. I also love to see how that moment grows in their heart and takes on a life of it’s own, and you see some big or small authentic change for them . Like one fire lighting another. It is exhilarating. Life has meaning and purpose when you focus on others. When someone leaves your presence happier and healthier you know your on track you feel alignment to your soul. You have fulfilled your greatest purpose. Don’t listen to any other voice this is all there is.
