Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Krista Bartik. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Krista, thanks for joining us today. Can you share a story that illustrates an important or relevant lesson you learned in school
In cosmetology school I entered Beacon, a contest for new individuals to the beauty industry. I was lucky enough to be chosen as one of 300 students to attend 2018 NAHA in Las Vegas. While I was there I heard a quote that still resonates with me to this day. “Your level of success equals your level of hunger”. I’d always been a hard worker, but this quote puts into perspective on where motivation truly comes from.

Krista, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started cosmetology school at 17 years old with a love and passion for makeup. My goal was to become a traveling makeup artist for special events. Throughout my schooling I realized that my love and passion lies in blonding and balayage. People often say, “you find what you’re looking for when you least expect it”… they weren’t wrong. From that moment on I knew I wanted to work in a salon and specialize in blonding and balayage services.
I’ve had a passion for education and teaching as long as I could remember. I believe this passion started while growing up and watching my mom teach dance. I observed how much the students looked up to her and the smiles on their faces after they learned something they didn’t know they were capable of doing. Teaching not only helps others feel good, but also makes you feel good. This shaped me into who I am today and helped me understand what it’s like to be a true leader.
I work full time behind the chair and specialize in blonding and balayage services. When I am not behind the chair, I am traveling and teaching for Masters of Balayage. MOB is an educational company that inspires and provides physical and mental growth for hairstylist worldwide. Being apart of the MOB team has helped me accomplish my 5 year goals, within the past year. Powerful things happen when you surround yourself around like minded people.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I started my social media in cosmetology school with the intent to attract future clients in my chair. My social media started to grow when I started posting what I was truly passionate about, education. Social media is a free marketing tool so it’s important to know who your target audience is. To anyone starting on social media, I want you to ask yourself; what is your purpose? Who is your target audience? Then post to attract the right kind of people to your page.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
I would consider social media my “side hustle” while working full time behind the chair. This allowed me to collaborate and connect with hairstylist/companies all over the world. I truly believe that I wouldn’t be where I am today without social media.
