We recently connected with Krissy Allegra and have shared our conversation below.
Krissy , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Before Always Allegra came to be, I started in the industry, first assisting other planners on the side, then working for 12 years at different special event venues throughout Los Angeles. My position was always the Event Manager for all the events at my given space; coordinating the food & beverage, timelines, managing vendors and working with planners to bring wedding days to life. I learned so much over my 12 years being on the venue side; engulfed by each and every event, infiltrated with the details and a part of the process with our clients.
I learned so very much about the business I one day would have. I saw so many different versions a planner could be, a day-of coordinator, a few months-out coordinator, a designer, or a full-service planner managing every little detail from day one. Everyone had such a diverse take of the same roles and did the job so very differently. I studied much about how clients are treated by their planners and vendors. I was a sponge; I took everything in, made mental notes, and have carried these experiences with me every step of my career so far.
Always Allegra Events’ mission is to prioritize quality in the work we do, promise professionalism in the team we provide, and soar in creating special personal experiences that will last a lifetime. Like we say, “this special experience for you, is just as important to us, as it is to you”. We lean into the amount we care and put into every one of our events.
Speaking from my professional, past experiences, I would constantly watch industry professionals treat clients like this wasn’t their wedding, the most special day of their lives. It’s something that shouldn’t get lost in the process, as it’s the most important thing to remember through and through. I have the privilege of being on an extraordinary journey with my clients; the way they are treated, responded to, and listened to — all are elements that curate the overall experience- and the journey to a long-lasting life memory.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Always Allegra Events is a Los Angeles based planning and design company, that creates seamless, personalized, and exquisite events. We organize and design a variety of event types with 70% of our annual base being weddings.
We offer partial and full-planning services, with packages dependent on the amount of time and overall support needed. Design is our specialty and the primary reason many come to us. Design is included in the full-planning package, and available as an add-on for our partial package. Our niche is taking reins of the whole event weekend, to ensure a seamless experience where our couple can entirely enjoy and spend time with their loved ones.
Besides weddings, the other 30% of our calendar year is made up of milestone birthday parties, anniversaries, engagement parties, and corporate events ranging from team building and brand launches to holiday parties,. We love to mix things up!
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Always Allegra was a product of COVID-19. I was working at Spago Beverly Hills, in March 2020. I loved my job working for Wolfgang Puck’s flagship restaurant in Beverly Hills. The variety and volume of events I was able to create and manage, was a surplus, and excited me every day. When COVID hit, things obviously changed. I worked there until July 2020 when I made the decision to leave and focus my energy into building a company from the ground up. It was of the scariest moments of my life, and a decision that did not come easy. To everyone who knew me personally and professionally, this next step was a no-brainer. But for me, the unknown was terrifying. One thing I did know for certain is that someday, the world would be able to go “back to normal” and events would be roaring. I was so confident on the truth to that, I was driven to spend all my time, energy, and resources to be ready for the day the world opened, and we could reunite.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Most rewarding aspect for me, comes during an event. For a wedding it’s that moment after the ceremony is complete and cocktail hour is finished, and the reception is going. Seeing my clients being able to enjoy fully with their loved ones; letting go of the details, and really relishing in the moment – laughing, taking pictures, and trusting me to take the lead on their behalf. Somewhere in those moments, the visibility of the fruit of the work that led to this point is so rewarding. There is nothing quite like that feeling.
