Krislenn, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Lenneage Consulting is devoted to unraveling the intricate connections between our past experiences and present communication dynamics. The core mission revolves around understanding why we engage in certain behaviors today, be they rooted in positive or challenging past events. The name, derived from “lineage” and “linear,” emphasizes our capacity to connect the dots between our origins and current circumstances.
This exploration goes beyond abstract theories, delving into the dynamics not only of childhood but also the reverberations of past relationships and professional roles. The imprints of these experiences significantly shape our communication styles, influencing how we express emotions and navigate connections with others. Lenneage recognizes the complexity of these influences, acknowledging that our familial and professional pasts play pivotal roles in forming our present communication habits.
Reflecting on my personal journey, my mother’s unwavering dedication through long working hours to support our family left a lasting impact. However, her limited availability and infrequent displays of affection created challenges in my own expression of love. In my marriage, I found myself demonstrating affection through actions like cooking and cleaning, in contrast to my husband’s need for verbal expressions, kisses, and touches.
This difference in communication styles led to conflicts in our marriage. I, thinking that providing materially and maintaining a clean household was enough, discovered that my husband needed more—more time, more communication, more affection. Facing a potential impasse in our marriage, we sought help and realized that our diverse upbringings had shaped our communication needs.
It became evident that my husband, accustomed to affection, had a different communication style rooted in his upbringing. This revelation prompted a shift in our approach, fostering open dialogue and understanding. Alongside these challenges, I grappled with the tendency to overdo it at work, driven by a desire to be the best employee. This often led to burnout, affecting not only my professional life but also my ability to be present and engaged at home.
Lenneage is committed to providing tools that break down language styles, facilitating effective communication in various settings. The method, tried and true, aims to help individuals be seen, heard, and understood, acknowledging that while the challenges in communication aren’t new, the tools to address them are. With a desire to help other couples and parents navigate their own difficulties, our mission is to build relationships one conversation at a time by helping people understand the power of meaningful connections. We use the Communication IQ System™ as a tool that will help grasp how you and those around you navigate communication.

Krislenn, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Born and raised in Dallas, Tx, I am the wife of a Marine and a mom of three, my diverse background has played a significant role in shaping both my personal and professional journey. With a background deeply rooted in Human Resources and Administration, my venture into this industry is driven by a genuine passion for unraveling the intricate nuances of communication and relationships.
My journey began by taking the Kendall Life Languages Profile (KLLP) in 2019 to work out differences at home and become a better leader at work. Ever since, I’ve integrated it into my daily life. In 2023, I achieved certification as an Independent Certified Communications Coach, driven by the aspiration to assist others in uncovering their preferred communication styles using the KLLP Life Language. What I love about using KLLP is that its not just descriptive it’s also prescriptive. Rather than confining individuals to rigid categories, Life Languages empowers them by providing a foundational understanding of themselves and others. It serves as a key to unlocking effective communication, fostering awareness, and facilitating meaningful connections.
Lenneage Consulting, for me, is not just a business; it’s a commitment to leveraging and expanding on my expertise in HR and Administration, where I’ve had to consistently interact with people due to the nature of my professions. As someone who has “been there and done that,” I aspire to be the coach who supports others through the unique communication challenges, offering guidance and understanding.
For potential clients, followers, and fans, I want them to know that Lenneage is more than just a brand; it’s a resource for fostering healthier connections. Whether you’re a couple facing challenges, a parent navigating familial dynamics, or professional looking to building better working relationships, Lenneage is here to guide you. I am here to be the coach who has navigated these challenges firsthand and is dedicated to supporting you through it. Together, we can overcome the obstacles and build stronger, more resilient connections.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
“The Garden Within” by Dr. Anita Phillips, a trauma therapist and mental health expert, has been a confirming echo to my entrepreneurial thinking, that guides Lenneage Consulting. Hearing Dr. Phillips speak on topics that resonated with my own feelings and aspirations was a profound experience. This book, “revealing how embracing our emotions is the key to living a powerful life”, has been eye-opening for me, particularly as someone who struggles with showing the slightest emotion.
Inspired by the wisdom found in “The Garden Within,” we are committed to providing practical tools for effective communication and fostering a space for genuine growth and connections. Dr. Anita Phillips’ insights, as a trauma therapist and mental health expert, continue to bloom, influencing the heart of Lenneage Consulting.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A pivotal lesson unfolded as I learned to be more flexible in my approach in life. Colleagues graciously provided feedback, highlighting perceptions of being stoic and unapproachable which was not at all how I saw myself. I had always considered myself an easy-going individual. It was a moment of realization – if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it might just be a duck…. and I was a mean looking duck apparently.
Taking this insight to heart, I embraced a newfound flexibility in my interactions. This commitment to adaptability, paired with a more open and approachable demeanor, catalyzed a positive transformation in how I engage with others. Navigating the intricacies of diverse communication styles.
Yet, it’s crucial to acknowledge that this journey is ongoing, and I am still a work in progress. Continuous self-reflection and a dedication to flexibility remain integral aspects of my quest to refine and enhance my communication skills. But I try to let people know that my quack is worse than my bite.
