We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Krisiz Jay. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Krisiz below.
Hi Krisiz , thanks for joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
The first risk I ever took as a creative was the very first music video I put out I had no prior music. No one listening. But when I made it I wanted to put it out and just see what happens. Never did I think about what would happen after that. And since 2019 it’s slowly but steadily getting better with every passing moment
Krisiz , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
How I got in the industry or at least how I began my journey in the music industry was through my brother sister, and uncle. My brother played Tupac for me one day after school I was about five years old and it hooked me in instantly. My sisters were both big music lovers and they would play all the songs from Mary J. Blige to Otis Redding to Biggie Smalls to Bone Thugs N Harmony and the list goes on. My uncle used to make me freestyle to beats for hours and just have fun with the music.
What I’m most proud of about my brand is that it’s authentic. It’s me. I can’t fake it can’t lie none of that. It’s who I am. And it fits the mold for anyone. It’s relatable to anyone.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my audience on social media the first time with just videos. I would hit them with videos and although they were low in quality the message was always clear. We’re on the way up out of whatever struggles and challenges we face. There is a chance we can get through this. And from there I just reach out to everyone who comments likes shares I try my best to not post anything that isn’t me. I give them me. All around.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
One book that I think most people should read is Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. It breaks down the mindset needed to have for entrepreneurs and investors to have. And I recommend the cash flow quadrant by him as well.
