We recently connected with Krisha Crosley and have shared our conversation below.
Krisha, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
Kept my attention on school and sports growing up. My parents kept me busy with sports to keep me out of trouble. I have learned life long lessons from my parents growing up this way. Practice, practice, practice and then practice some more. There is always room for more knowledge. Take care of your body. To this day I still practice, practice, practice, continue to learn all I can, take care of myself with proper sleep, food, and hydration. My parents have given me a strong foundation to be disciplined and accountable in my actions.
Krisha, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a natural birth trainer and coach. I have a unique outlook on childbirth. Childbirth is a sporting event. You will work hard during the birthing process. You will cramp, sweat, bleed, cry, be utterly exhausted and still have to cross the finish line. I will train you like an athlete. My birthing athletes step up to the starting line of their birthing game day with confidence, run their birthing marathon and labor their baby across their finish line.
Would you step up to the starting line of a marathon and not train for it? NO! You can TRAIN FOR BIRTH!
5 years ago I started taking home and birth center doula clients only. I observed each laboring mom as she labored and noticed they all had the same labor pattern. The variable was time. Natural birthing moms also squat and lunge A LOT!! Then I wrote the Train for Birth workshop training program. The exercises and techniques in the program are movements that natural birthers already use in labor. Practice those moves so your body is ready to perform what you will already naturally do in labor. Babies started crossing the finish lines in record time. First time moms, meeting their babies in less than 12 hours start to finish. National average is 24 hours. This workshop has cut laboring time in half mom after mom after mom!! These moms put in the work during pregnancy to create their desired birthing experience.
Train for Birth is a workshop that educates expecting parents in the natural birthing process, how to train the body and mind for natural birth in the last month of pregnancy, how to labor naturally and how to use the natural birth skill set on their birthing game day.
Train for Birth has a training program to practice, practice, practice starting at 34 weeks. Athletes practice, practice, practice their skill set for the one day they step out onto the court, track or field on their game day with confidence. It’s the same concept. Practicing this natural birth skill set daily builds confidence and conditions the body and mind for your natural birth experience.
Train for Birth 2022 alumni stats came in at a resounding 96% of expecting parents achieving their desired birth experience. If you put the work in and train daily, amazing results are to follow.
I have 2 locations in DFW with hands on Train for Birth workshops for expecting parents 34+ weeks. There is also a virtual option for those expecting parents who prefer to learn virtually or are located in other areas on the planet.
Your body is created to birth your baby and will stretch just enough to have your baby. From one athlete to another…YOU GOT THIS!! I believe in you!!
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Consistency. Networking with like minded professionals. Consistent posts on social media platforms with educational reels and positive birth stories from my Train for Birth alumni.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I have been a certified birth doula for 9+ years. I took clients who birthed in hospitals, in birth centers and in the comfort of their home for the first 4 years. I realized my viewpoint on childbirth aligned more with midwifery care. I really got tired of the micromanaging of birth in a hospital setting with perfectly healthy women and healthy babies. I felt it was very unnecessary. Childbirth doesn’t need to be managed and controlled with a healthy mommy and healthy baby. I was not seeing this in birth centers or home births; women just labored to their own birthing rhythm. 5 years ago, I stepped away from hospital births. My doula skill set grew drastically in a natural birth setting and fed my biology geeky mind. I would not be the natural birth trainer or coach I am today if I did not remove myself from the hospital environment and purely observe this Godlike phenomenon of childbirth.
