We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Krish Nihalani. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Krish below.
Krish, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
My photography journey has been one of continuous learning and exploration. While formal education at the New York Film Academy provided me with essential technical skills and artistic insights, much of my learning has come from immersing myself in the craft, experimenting, and seeking inspiration from various sources. In hindsight, one thing I could have done to expedite my learning process is to engage more actively with mentors and industry professionals. Their guidance and real-world experience would have provided invaluable shortcuts and insights into the industry’s nuances.
Regarding skills, adaptability and a willingness to embrace new technologies and techniques have been paramount. Photography is an ever-evolving field, and staying abreast of the latest trends and tools is crucial for staying relevant. Additionally, strong communication skills have proven essential, whether it’s effectively conveying my artistic vision to clients or collaborating with other creatives on projects.
Obstacles are inevitable in any learning journey, and mine have ranged from technical challenges to creative blocks. Balancing artistic integrity with commercial viability has been a recurring challenge, as has navigating the competitive landscape of the photography industry. However, each obstacle has been an opportunity for growth, pushing me to innovate and refine my craft further.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My photography journey began with a deep-seated passion for storytelling and a fascination with capturing moments that evoke emotion and resonance after not performing well academically in high school. What started as a hobby (clicking selfies) quickly blossomed into a full-fledged career pursuit, fueled by a desire to blend artistry with technical precision.
As a photographer, I specialize in capturing the essence of moments, whether it’s through portraits or commercial projects. My services encompass a wide range of offerings, including but not limited to:
-Portraiture: I strive to capture my subjects’ unique personalities and essence, whether it’s a professional headshot, a family portrait, or an editorial shoot.
-Commercial Photography: From product shots to corporate events, I collaborate closely with clients to deliver compelling visual narratives that align with their brand identity and objectives.
What sets me apart from others in the industry is my unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation. I approach each project with a fresh perspective, constantly pushing the boundaries of creativity and technique to deliver unparalleled results. Moreover, my background in photography from the New York Film Academy imbues my work with a cinematic quality, elevating it beyond mere imagery to immersive storytelling experiences.
I take immense pride in the relationships I’ve cultivated with clients and collaborators over the years, built on a foundation of trust, professionalism, and a shared passion for excellence. Whether it’s capturing the joy of a newly engaged couple, the excitement of a product launch, or the grandeur of a corporate event, I consider it a privilege to be entrusted with immortalizing these moments.
For potential clients, and followers, I want them to know that my work is not just about taking photographs—it’s about crafting visual narratives that resonate on a profound level. I invite them to join me on a journey of exploration and discovery, where each image tells a story waiting to be told. Whether you’re looking to capture a cherished memory, elevate your brand’s image, or simply immerse yourself in the beauty of the world around us, I’m here to bring your vision to life.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
To best support artists and nurture a thriving creative ecosystem, society should prioritize arts education in schools, providing opportunities for young talent to flourish. Financial support through grants, fellowships, and fair compensation ensures artists can sustain their practice. Accessible resources, including affordable studio spaces and mentorship programs, empower artists to hone their craft. Promoting exposure through exhibitions, festivals, and digital platforms amplifies artists’ voices and expands their reach. Embracing diversity within the creative community fosters inclusivity and innovation. Facilitating collaboration and networking opportunities encourages cross-disciplinary exchange and growth. Advocating for cultural policies that recognize the importance of the arts and allocate resources accordingly solidifies the foundation for a vibrant creative landscape. Through these efforts, society can create an environment where artists thrive and enrich cultural life.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is the ability to evoke emotion, provoke thought, and inspire change through my photographs. Whether it’s capturing a fleeting moment of beauty, conveying a powerful message through visual storytelling, or connecting with others on a deeply personal level, the impact of art is profound. Knowing that my photographs have the power to move, uplift, and resonate with others brings a sense of fulfillment and purpose that transcends any other pursuit.
