Alright, Kris thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?

My legacy will be one of the underdog that rose to the top. Surpassing everyone expectations and or doubts. Being more than just a braider and business owner but a Beauty Mogul and true inspiration. The main goal is paving the way for the next generation and educating them and recognizing their skills and passion and encouraging them to go for their wildest dreams!
I want to be remembered for NOT CARING; not caring about the opinions of others and being brave and daring enough to follow my dreams and hopeful that inspires some little girl out there!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I am Kris Lundy, The Beauty Babe and owner of growing empire Bella K Beauty. I got my start years ago honey, I’ve been braiding since middle school you know the years where girls become more girly and start the intrigue into hair, make up and fashion, nothing special. But I knew I loved everything about the industry. I went from being a weave specialist to make up artist to lash tech and eventually gave up, I wasn’t fulfilled nothing felt right. Just like most who give up on there dreams I got a 9-5 got married and tried to be “normal”. Bad Idea! I’m a stand out of the box kind of girl and the bland life I was living was way less fulfilling than chasing my dreams ever was. So I quit my job, left that marriage and followed my dreams! 4 LONG years later, I am a full time braider Bi coastal between Atlanta and Phoenix.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?

Social media is your best friend when it comes to marketing your business. To people outside of your normal reach! Use social media to make you money not to gossip and say dream. Get out of the matrix and make your money girl!! But you can not forget what is in your everyday reach, your community. Get out pass out business cards, go to some local businesses and introduce yourself, you never know what type connection could grow from simply introducing yourself.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?

Hustle mentality! Usually when you have a trade or a side hustle you’re seeing cash daily. If you’re not careful you can spend it as fast as you get it. It’s easy to say “ I can spend this now and make the money back tomorrow, but what if you get a no call no show tomorrow and then the next day your client changes her mind on what she wants and now that changes your total for that day and it’s usually a downward spiral from there and you are working overtime just to make it up. Been there done that. Sep ate your money daily into categories until you can manage your money better . Each day add $200 for bills $100 for food etc. when you can see where your money is going it’s easier to manage especially when you are receiving cash to hand daily.
