We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kris Kinder. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kris below.
Kris, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
The greatest risk I’ve ever taken is trusting God in a world that reiterates our imperfections and lack. I remember when I was at my lowest place in life, there was no light. I took seven pieces of paper and listed seven talents that I had. I laid them out on the floor in front of me and told God that if he would lead me, I will maximize this life with everything he gave me when he created me. It was all I had left and that was the beginning of my faith walk.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’ve always had a love for the creative arts. I remember the first time I knew that I wanted to live this life. My cousins and I took my uncle’s older camcorder and decided that we would do an impromptu movie called “You Reap What You Sow”. It was one of the most empowering and exciting times of my life. We had to mean no more than 11 to13 years old between all of us. We wrote an impromptu script, created the wardrobe, and filmed an entire movie. It was effortless and I was in love with the arts. That was the first time that I felt like I was in love. I Shortly after, my dad gave me his older camcorder and I FILMED EVERYTHING! I would also purchase the disposable cameras a took photos of my mom and friends throughout my high school years. One day, during grad school, my hairstylist asked me and my friend to be models for her shop as she rebranded her business. She had a photographer for her models and at that time, I had a motorola smartphone with a 16meg back-facing camera. I just randomly took pictures of everything that was taking place in the building that day. After reviewing my pictures later that day, I decided to make her and all of the models a flip-book of the photos I took as a gifted for her new start. She was so impressed, that she hired me to take her family photos. I immediately purchased a professional camera and started my business, Kris10 Media. I love the feeling of capturing a moment in time that she could relive over again.
Kris10 Media is a one stop shop for major/minor media projects. We create the team (videographers, photographers, editors) appropriate for the project. We find the location, run of show, and vision consultation for the clients. We offer both primary and BTS (behind the scene) footage. Tell us your vision and we will make it happen. We specialize in weddings, business promos, production companies in need of a crew, individuals in need of lifestyle photos and business branding material.
As I begin building Kris10media, I still had the passion for fashion and acting. So later I created 1820 Lifestyle and begin my journey in acting.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My number one goal in life is to be a reflection of God’s love and to show the world that He’s real. God is in the business of faith, purpose, relationships and redemption. I often hear people speak of love languages; I’ve even read articles on this matter. I believe the ultimate love language of God is faithfulness. To be faithful is to remain loyal and steadfast. It’s doing what you said you were going to do even when the circumstances change. Surround yourself with like-minded people who understand your industry and know how to find the answers to the problems your face. Go to the seminars, take the classes, emerge yourself in the culture, and become the expert in your field. DO THE WORK! The most successful businesses are faithful to the mission. As long as we live, the most consistent thing that we will ever experience is change. We’ve got to be able to roll with the punches of life and when those times get hard, God’s strength is what we lean on. There’s always this light at the end of the darkness and you’ll find that at your breaking point, miracles happen. Faithfulness has a reward.
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” James 1:2-4

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
When life happens, sometimes it’s hard to see ourselves in a certain light. For example, I’ve always wanted to be an actress but I never had the courage to pursue my passion. Being behind the camera was easy and it was comfortable for me, however, I knew I wanted more. I had gone through one of the worst heartbreaks in my life and I didn’t feel confident. It was the first time that I had experienced brokenness on that level. When I place my gifts and God’s hands, He begin to strategically walk me through life. I understood the brokenness as a gift. I know, now, that it was necessary. I believe that if I never experienced that heartbreak, I would never know God‘s strength. Faith is believing even when you can’t comprehend it. I had no idea how I was gonna get out of that place, it was so dark, but I trust God. I remember when I decided to return to acting. I didn’t know where to start and I felt like I was in a large pool of opportunities with no connections. It was hard but I knew that if I was going to book anything, I had to have faith and do the work. I began to take acting classes, started auditioning, and trusted in God. My very first audition landed me a leading role. I’m grateful that the bookings have been very consistent
