We recently connected with Kris Bryant and have shared our conversation below.
Kris , appreciate you joining us today. Has Covid resulted in any major changes to your business model?
I think after the pandemic the doors of possibility were flung open and off it’s hinges! Since everyone was at home and essentially working from home we now had a captive audience. Plus having the ability to do virtual interviews meant your clients could still have representation on what now was the largest platform; social media. I went from dealing with the drawbacks of being internet based radio and seen a second hand to now I was at the pinnacle of a revolution and whereas everyone else needed to be trained, I was an expert and able to navigate through quickly and gain the exposure needed to elevate my client’s visibility and reach. So my value skyrocketed because I was able to pivot so quickly with the transition on how media and information was delivered and retained.!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Kris Bryant is an African American woman from Houston, TX. She is a Radio/TV personality, social media content manager, and actress. She partners with local artists, small businesses and entrepreneurs to help them build an audience, gain a broader social media presence and increase their digital footprint. Kris has become one of the City’s most popular radio personalities at GMT radio.
Her big personality has landed her roles in stage plays like, Forever His and Conflicts & Confessions, a web series, Fight for the Family, most recently casted for a motion picture called Trapped, and the host of the City Highlights Radio/TV show. Kris loves being on the radio she says it allows her to have engaging conversations highlighting local businesses and people impacting the city of Houston. It gives me the opportunity to use my light to illuminate others.
Kris is also a mental health advocate, a passion that emerged as a result of being her mother’s full-time caregiver until her death in 2017. With her resonant voice and command on the airwaves, she uses her platform to change the narrative on mental health stigmas. She also hosts an annual mental health awareness event, Rated X, which provides a platform for those struggling with mental health an opportunity to share their stories while raising money for non-profits.
Kris is available for marketing, advertising, event management, and strategy sessions. She also does public speaking, appearances, red carpet interviews, event host and MC. What I want my potential clients to know is when you build yourself up from the ground and see the evidence of your work come to fruition that builds that type of confidence that can move mountains, so just imagine where that type of ambition take you.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
The key element of how I built my reputation in the media industry is with being the light in every room I entered. The one thing about confidence is everyone is attracted to it. I pride myself on always being genuine and authentic when I enter a room. I enter knowing I bring value with my presence because I am so secure in me. That makes it is easy to get others to trust you and desire what you bring because it comes as an asset not a deficit.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
One of the key resources I wished I would have tapped into earlier on in my journey is TO LEVERAGE YOUR RELATIONSHIPS!!!! I was so focused on not being a nuisance and out of fear I would not reach out to some of the most amazing people I had connected with. But once I simply asked, I was amazed at how many people wanted to be apart of my journey. When they see your passion and drive then they are happy to align and help in any capacity they can. Especially when you surround yourself with dynamic people and solidify concrete relationships.
