We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Koy & Jamal a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Koy & Jamal, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s talk about social media – do you manage your own or do you have someone or a company that handles it for you? Why did you make the choice you did?
As of right now, yes we currently manage our own social media. It can be a bit overwhelming if you let it or you’re just starting out, but the key is to be consistent. Right now social media is KING, so if you want to be successful you have to utilize it. Some key things to remember be consistent with posting, Followers don’t always equal money, and stay true to your brand.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My brother and I were on vacation, when we were inspired to open a new style restaurant. But with it being the middle of the pandemic a lot of banks and landlords wanting no parts of a new style restaurant, we felt defeated and wanted to give up but after a few weeks, we decided instead of the daunting task of trying to open a full blow restaurant why not bring our concept to the people at their homes, parks and beaches that was the birth of Dôme De Luxe.
Dome De Luxe, is family-owned, blacked owned business that brings an air of luxury to our clientele. normally when you see couples or celebrities posting themselves having dinner on the beach, its always on a secluded, or far away island. Well not anymore we have brought that luxury experience right to your doorsteps through our private beach dinners, Floating islands, Dinner parties, movie nights and many other packages.
We set up Domes, Floating Island, picnics, and hotel rooms. We specialize in romantic dinners on the beach which is what we are most known for.
What sets us apart form others is we always strive to make each experience better than the one before, we learn from every booking and are constantly adding more features and services to make each experience more enjoyable. For example, last march we added our new service which is our floating island, where you are having a picnic, or dinner while literally floating along the intercostal.
We are most proud of our uniqueness. Our business and our level of attention to detail is truly one of a kind. We were still able to safely help people celebrate special moments in their lives at a time when things were so uncertain in the world and many restaurants weren’t able to accommodate people during the pandemic.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One of the biggest struggles we had overcome in our business was at the very start of our business. After our first booking we posted the photos on our business instagram page and almost immediately went “viral” gaining nearly a 1000 followers in one day. We were getting request upon request for booking, more information, it was incredible. Unfortunately the very next day our page was hacked, we tried everything we could to get our page back only to be told by instagram we couldn’t. We were so heartbroken and didn’t know how we would possible move forward. Determined to not give up we decided to create another page hence @domedeluxemiami2. That page didn’t go viral as quickly as the first page but we kept at it, kept posting and eventually with only 300 followers caught the eye of a celebrity who booked with us and posted about her experience which got our page to 5000 followers.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
What is a business without its clients? Answer: Nothing. Here at Dome De Luxe our clients are our top priority, without them we are nothing. So with each and every client we strive to give the the best experience we can, we go above and beyond for each client. We treat each client like members of our family, because they are forever apart of our Dome De Luxe family. To sum it all up our clients mean everything to us so we strive to provide the best customer service possible so most of our business is through repeat customers or client referrals.
