Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kosha Chandler. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kosha, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Have you ever had an amazing boss, mentor or leader leading you? Can you us a story or anecdote that helps illustrate why this person was such a great leader and the impact they had on you or their team?
My boss/mentor is an amazing woman from Hawaii. She has thought me so much in my 10 years experience in my career. Her name is Vee Osborne. Vee came to the USA a few years ago starting up her business as a Spa owner. Not to mention she is a massage therapist herself so she knows not only the ends and outs when it comes to being a therapist and the behind the scenes of owning a spa but she’s been a business owner majority of her life with owning boutiques, restaurants, spa’s, and the lists continues. Not only has she gave me great pointers of owning a business but she’s also thought me some really cool techniques for massage. She has always been a kind and understanding boss but also a stern and fierce leader. I love her dearly and proud to call her my mentor/ massage mom.

Kosha, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have been a licensed Massage Therapist with an associate’s degree in Therapeutic Massage for 10 years now. I’ve also loved massaging my family and friends and making them full relaxed and better. So one day after having my oldest son, I decided to start massage school which was a 15 month program, and I finished the program and then passed my MBLEX exam which is the test we have to pass in order to obtain our license. After passing the test, I started working at a small owned business called Plaza West Massage and Day Spa where Vee Osborne was the owner and my boss. She is now my best friend and mentor! After working there for about 4 to 5 years I started working at a different spa called Massage Luxe. From there I started to build my own business in which I named it Healing Touch. I got my LLC, found a great location and began my journey as a entrepreneur. I provide Swedish to deep tissue services along with some add-on services like hot stones, essential oils, foot scrubs, etc. My main goal is to heal, relax and transport my clients into an Oasis away from their reality. I’m very proud of accomplishing all that I have all the while being a mom of three, a wife, and a professional dancer as well. It definitely takes a lot of discipline in my line of work. You have to be mentally positive and stable while being physically in shape and healthy. I love my clients and hearing them say things like “omg, that felt amazing…. can I take you home with me?” LOL
If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
Yes, yes and yes! I love my profession. Even though some days it can take a lot out of me mentally and physically but all in all I love what I do. I love my clients. I love seeing the transformation and progress in my clients after seeing my on a consistent basis and their health and even their mental being has improved!

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
I would have to say positivity and optimism. A person can easily get discourage and not just in my field but a business owner altogether because it takes so much hard work and dedication. But with a positive mindset, great support system and determination, there’s nothing an entrepreneur can’t accomplish!
