We were lucky to catch up with Kori Teamer recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Kori, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

My mission is to offer honest, holistic hair and skincare products to men and women worldwide. I take great pride in using premium, all-natural ingredients in my handcrafted products. Every ingredient used in my product line is thoroughly researched and tested by me. I prepare each product in small batches for optimal freshness. I am committed to providing safe and effective products that are free from harmful chemicals that will yield great results by enriching the natural biology of your skin and hair. I want your skin to glow and your hair to grow. I am all about skincare and healthy hair. You should love the skin you’re in and take care of it with all natural safe products. This also goes for your hair even beards. In todays world people are becoming more aware of what they are putting in their body and on their bodies. The products I create are organic, most are vegan, they all smell amazing and most of all affordable.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I got into to this industry for several reasons. (A) I was tired of spending hundreds of dollars on products that would only break my skin out worse and cause all sort of irritations all over my body. (B) Awareness, I became more aware of what I was putting in my body and on my body. The fear that the products I was using could produce cancer cells within my body. Cancer runs in my family and I wanted to control what I could control to help me in preventing myself from that same fate.

I have a passion for helping people. I love getting the amazing feedback and success stories of how my products have helped so many people. I work with all ages, races, and genders. My hair and skincare products are designed to aid in a wide range of issues. They are no way a cure for anything. They are simply a natural, chemical free way to take care of you hair and skin. I am always honest with what my products can and cannot do. I want to help the customer anyway I can. A happy customer is like food to my soul. I want them to be happy with who they see in the mirror.

I am most proud of how quickly my small business is growing. I’ve been in business 2 years and I have my products in 2 stores 1) The Black American Market in the Potomac Mall in VA and 2) Curate Noir in the Moorestown Mall in NJ. I have done multiple pop up shops in several states.

I am most excited about my recent lease for my own store on 4/20/23. I said 2023 was going to be my year and I am definitely living up to that. It is a new chapter to this book of life.
In the mist of everything I work hard and stay humble and that has gotten me far.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?

I have a very small team of 4 people. When we vend I try to make it fun and stress free even though I maybe a little stressed. I like to start out with a prayer. After prayer we talk about our sales goals for the day. I always end with it’s not about the money. Let’s meet a lot people and get Nutta Butta products in as many people’s hands as possible and more importantly let’s have fun doing it. When you lead the team and not boss the team they are more willing to work with you to achieve the set goals. My team wants Nutta Butta to be successful. After every event we all talk about what we did great and what we could have improved on. This allows the team to reflect and point out areas of improvement as a team. No matter what our sales are that day I always thank them and tell them how much I appreciate them. We are team, it’s like 1 band 1 sound.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

I built my social media by posting on each platform everyday. I have a link tree account that has all my social media platforms listed with links and my website. I use the QR code from that and put it on everything I put in a customers hand. That QR code is printed on my shirts, business cards and flyers. I ask every customer to follow me to be alerted with my events, deals, and giveaways. I run facebook, ig and tiktok promotions. They work for real. I also send free products to influencers with 1 million followers and it works. It takes 1 person (the right person) to get a hold of your product and do a review and it could go viral.
