We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kori Kelley a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kori, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I’ve had an awareness since I was a child that I was a little different. I was more sensitive to the emotions of others, and often aware that even though I was alone in a room, I wasn’t really alone. For years I had visitation dreams where my close friend’s deceased grandmother (Who I’d only met twice) would come and give me messages to pass on to her. It never really clicked until 2019 when my childhood best friend passed away. The day after she passed I could feel her in the room with me, and so, I began asking her to show me proof she was still around. I asked for the wildest signs imaginable, and she showed up, time and time again. In 2021 I met the woman who would become my mentor while living in England, and I uncovered a deep love for Evidential Mediumship and being a voice for friends and loved ones who have departed their physical bodies, I studied with tutors at The Arthur Findlay College and honed my abilities. My business unfolded naturally, doing readings via zoom, and in my home office until I knew it was time to branch out. Word of mouth spread quickly as those I read for referred their friends and family members to me. I opened my physical office space last year inside a wellness center called Collective Wellness of Summerville in Summerville, SC.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started working as a Medium in 2021. I am an Evidential Medium which means it is my goal to provide evidence that your loved ones are still around you. This happens when information that is relevant only to you and your loved one comes forward in a reading. Typically I am able to convey detailed information such as personality, nicknames, inside jokes, etc. As an example, one time in a group reading, I was aware that my recipient would be sitting in the second row, that her husband had passed instantly from a heart attack, that EMS had been called, but it was already too late, that she hadn’t been able to be with him when he passed and that she had his wedding ring in her pocket – with her that day. I was able to reassure her that he was with her so often that he knew she would be there, he’d let me know where she’d be sitting the day before, and he knew she still has his ring,
I offer mediumship readings to connect with loved ones in Spirit, psychic readings which are glimpses into the potential for the future, spiritual assessments- which are readings to connect with guides about your own spiritual journey, and Spiritualist healing, and sound healing, along with mediumship practice groups, and mentoring.
All my readings are positive and uplifting, and my goal is to have my client leave feeling excited for the future, knowing how loved and supported they are by all their loved ones in Spirit. Our bodies may die, but our consciousness is eternal.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I started on Facebook and Instagram, and I have just started sharing on TikTok. I don’t have a huge following, but to me, authentic connection Is the key. I’d rather have 500 followers who genuinely feel connected to me than 5 million who don’t. I often post one card pulls for my followers, taking a moment to connect specifically to each person when I’m posting their card. I share true stories from readings that blow my mind, and I always post reviews. I try to show up as authentically myself as possible, because I know when I am making a purchase I want to know the practitioner beforehand. I want to get a feel for their personality and make sure it feels aligned.
My biggest advice is to just post it! I think we all feel silly posting sometimes, but really, who cares? Nothing big ever comes from staying in your comfort zone.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think my reputation comes from my drive for authenticity. I want to ensure every client has a great experience, and I want them to know we had a real connection for that 30 mins or 1 hour we spent together. I have been so lucky to have so many clients tell their friends about me, and referrals have been a huge part of my success. I have never done any advertising, and everything has grown organically. I always ask clients to leave a review, because reviews are what inspire others to book. Opening an office space has truly helped my business flourish too, because clients know they are meeting in a safe space, they can see others have visited me at that location, and it just helps a lot for legitimacy.
