Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Koko Harris. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Koko thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
The greatest thing I believe my parents did was to nurture me but not pressure me. My parents always wanted me to do good, but they left the choice up to me to actually go be good and want more out of life. Although they had things they wanted me to achieve they allowed me to experience, grow, and become without out all the extra pressure that some people experience growing up. I believe that this has helped me the most in becoming who I am today because I know how to show grace to myself when things are not the greatest. If first you don’t succeed, try again and conquer.

Koko, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am Koko Harris The Author, The Funeral Director, The Creative Artist, and The Bartender. I am currently branding myself because I truly am an experience. I recently wrote and self-published a book entitled “The Grief of Life Overcoming and Healing from Triggers and Traumas.” My main goal with my book is to be real about the healing process of life situations from relationships, friendships, and childhood trauma. Identifying the root cause or storyline of individual trauma and triggers and moving past hurt and living life to be a better you. I am in the current season of my life where God is changing my perspective, making me better all while using me as a catalyst to help make other people better. I had to heal in order to be able to empower and uplift people that life really does go on and it’s so much more to life than being hurt.
Also, since my last interview I opened up a storefront for my T-Shirt Business and Boutique. Everything that I am and everything I will become I am only because of God 1st and secondly because I’m willing to take a risk and see what happens. I don’t believe in failure because if one thing doesn’t work out, I believe you should try again or try something else but don’t quit, CONQUER.
What sets me apart is that I’m a risk taker and I believe in having faith in God who makes everything possible. The waves of life get heavy, but I believe God will meet you where your faith is. Walking through a pressure of a storm and a season of uncertainty is hard but when you allow God in, He can take you where you need to go if you believe.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal on this creative journey is to remain open minded and keep getting better at my craft.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
My biggest pivot in business has been transitioning into my storefront location with my T-Shirt Business. I literally opened a store front in 30 days after doing business out of my home for 6 years, with no plan just God giving me the GO and me being crazy enough to believe Him ! In 6 months, I have had to learn and balance doing business on another level to make it greater and take it to the next level.
