Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kobra Da Don. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kobra, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s jump back to the first dollar you earned as a creative? What can you share with us about how it happened?
My first dollar earned as a creative was something I could never forget. I was hired to do a performance for a local bar that hosted a themed event and it barely brought in anyone. I remember dancing, starting off the number nervously as if I was still performing in front of a room of 100+ people. Then it was like a switch went off in my head, and I was just going off! All of my friends were cheering me on and after the performance, I went back to the dressing room and thought- “Oh my gosh, I just did that!?”. The next day, I was paid maybe $100 and thought I was making BIG bucks. It was from then on I knew I wanted to keep doing this.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got into the dancing game by networking. I was always going to local events and putting myself out there, introducing myself to event hosts, leaving lasting impressions, and building a bond with a lot of fellow creatives. I was originally going out and putting myself out there as a MUA and stylist but I wanted to pursue dancing again, this time incorporating what I liked and wanted to see more of. I still offer the occasional service of being an MUA or stylist to others who may be in need of one, but I’ve been 100% more determined to stay in the dancing lane.
I’ve started broadening the kind of Burlesque I’ve wanted to do as well so that I am able to offer more than just average burlesque. I’ve been getting into cosplaying, so Nerd-lesque is now something I offer, along with Gore-lesque- a horror based genre of burlesque. It’s all been so fun discovering and trying out new things and adding it to my list.
I’m proud of the steps I’ve taken to start my dancing journey but I know I can still do way more, it’s just a matter of how bad do I want it, and who’s serious about working with me.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
I would say the best way to support artists and creatives is to share their work! Whether it be through social media, word of mouth, or purchasing something from them and gifting it to a friend- share their work! Social media is a powerful tool and when used for good, it can help so many small businesses or creatives. Sharing a piece of their work to your story and gauging the interest of 2 people out of 100 views is still something! These things take time, but when you have a community that supports you, sharing your work, it works out perfectly.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
To be honest, the main goal driving me through any of this is because I’m tired of being a corporate drone.
I want to do something that makes me happy, fuels me and keeps me on my toes. I could never get tired of dancing, so making it full time is a huge goal of mine. I want to support myself by doing the things I love so it would never have to feel like I’m working.
