We were lucky to catch up with KMO SHAMAAL recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, KMO thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?

Ever since i was young i always knew i wanted to be an artist. I always wanted to perform in front of millions and so i been grinding hard daily since i knew thats the dream i wanted to pursue.

KMO, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I am Kmo Shamaal, i got into music because of my pops. he definitely taught me the ropes in finding my sound, recording and more. also i have to pay homage to Biggie smalls, Rakim, Chris Brown, Michael Jackson and so many more.

I began to go into my own lane after me and my team split but then created my own team called Free Spirit, Till this day we still growing and taking over to become legends. im bringing in and signing artist such as a fresh upcoming artist named J.L.A and more to come.

Together we are the Mavericks – an unorthodox or independent minded people. We try our hardest to bring fresh and new sounds to the table every time that we do a song, project or album; even if we are writing for other artist we want it to be fresh no matter what.

I take pride in all my music, all my hours i put in to reach the next level and i want my fans and followers to here the growth, feel every song that i put out, be able to relate and see where i am coming from through my stories in my music.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

The best feeling about being an artist is to perform and my fans know my music word for word. to feel their energy and love being sung back to me as i sing it will forever be amazing and special. i love my fans cause they support and they will always make what i do feel great because i do this for not only me but for them too.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?

i always wished i knew more ways to get into writing rooms, to connect with A&R’s and show my music, more ways to promote my music on higher platforms so it will reach the right people.
