We were lucky to catch up with Klenny Mujica recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Klenny, thanks for joining us today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
My passion for baking began in my beautiful country Venezuela, I love baking for my children and my husband, they are my best judges.Due to the harsh situation in my country in 2015 I started making cakes and desserts to celebrate my children’s birthdays and I had very good reviews from my relatives so I kept doing it and I could never stop.
In 2017 we made one of the most important decisions of our lives, we moved to this great country, so I had to start working and producing money together with my husband to cover all expenses. One day a neighbor invited my children to her son’s birthday, she asked me if I knew of anyone who made cakes and I replied, Me! the cake is going to be the gift for your son, that birthday there were many neighbors so I left the party with many clients, The main step I had to take to launch my business was definitely trust in my recipes and flavors, I make my cakes and desserts with recipes that I have been collecting and perfecting for many years.
After recommendations from my clients with other people, I have managed to make my small business grow little by little, of course my Instagram @dulcita_repodeco has also been a window to have new clients.
In these years I have had to learn a lot, since the climatic conditions in Houston are extreme, so many aspects must be taken into consideration so that everything looks and stays in perfect condition.
My children and my husband are my greatest support, they help me in everything they can, I am sure that everything flows in our business due to the passion with which we do everything. It is a family business.
