We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful KittyB. The Artisan. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with KittyB. The Artisan below.
KittyB. The Artisan, appreciate you joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I learned through experimenting on my own. I was introduced to oil pastels, which are my favorite, at a young age in art class. Ever since then I really feel like they’ve been my favorite medium to work with. Something I could of done to speed up the process is just working with them more and drawing different subjects. The most important skill I would say is patience. Learning any new skill requires patience and determination. The biggest obstacle has been time. I’ve made the decision to dedicate at least one of my off days to perfecting my craft.
KittyB. The Artisan, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Kalicia, but my creative name is KittyB. The Artisan. I mostly work with oil pastels for my drawings, but I also love a good DIY project as well. Most of my work is nature inspired. I first became interested in this industry when I was elementary school. I alway feel the most at peace when I am creating. Right now, I’m working on lots of different drawings and sketches, so I can offer prints and many more. I’m most proud of my determination. I have strayed a few times from my true calling over the years, but I’ve always came back to my true passion. I want potential clients, fans, and/or followers to know that I’ve put my heart and soul into everything that I’ve created.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Society can support the original artist of the creation. We often see someone create something and then people or businesses make a knock off of it and sell it for cheaper. Supporting the originator is definitely a great way to support artists, creatives, and the thriving creative ecosystem.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect is seeing people’s appreciation for my work. I love how people genuinely love my effort and appreciate my talent that I put into my work.
