Kito, appreciate you joining us today. Almost every entrepreneur we know has considered donating a portion of their sales to an organization or cause – how did you make the decision of whether to donate? We’d love to hear the backstory if you’re open to sharing the details.
Gamma Six does donate a portion of sales to the local community by buying much-needed items for a local food bank. By addressing the critical issue of hunger and food insecurity, Gamma Six contributes to the overall well-being and development of the community in several ways.
First and foremost, providing essential items to a local food bank directly benefits individuals and families facing food scarcity. Many people in the community may struggle to afford nutritious meals, particularly during challenging economic times such as the present economy. During these times of hardship, we understand some people are not thinking about purchasing a timepiece when basic needs are not being met. This is why Gamma Six’s contributions are so important because it helps to ensure that these individuals have access to vital sustenance, reducing the immediate burden of hunger and improving their overall health and quality of life.

My love for unique watches started back in high school, but Gamma Six was born from a much more personal place – my wedding preparations. When planning for my big day, I knew the perfect timepiece had to reflect my style and essence. I also wanted to gift watches to my groomsmen, dad, and my wife’s uncle as tokens of my appreciation for their support.
After months of searching, I settled for a plain, ordinary watch. It was a compromise that lacked the resplendence I desired to paint my life’s canvas with brilliance and artistic style. But then, after reflecting on my serendipitous wedding day, I had an epiphany. An audacious idea took flight, and that’s when Gamma Six was born.

Any fun sales or marketing stories?
One of my most memorable sales experiences was when I helped a young bride pick out a special wedding gift for her soon-to-be husband, and she fell in love with a watch at our booth display. It was an unforgettable experience to see her so thrilled with her choice.
I noticed the bride as she walked past each display, only pausing briefly to glance at the products. When I saw her approaching, I thought of witty joke to make her stop for a moment, hoping to learn what she was searching for and maybe introduce her to my company.
We got to talking, and I mentioned that I started my company because I was on the hunt for something unique for my own wedding day. I settled for what was in fashion at the time, but it didn’t quite hit the mark. It seemed to catch her interest, and she opened up, explaining that she wanted to find a special gift for her soon-to-be husband but was at a loss for ideas.
We had a good chat about her fiancé’s style and interests. She wanted something that was totally “him” and also carried a deeper meaning. She remembered him wanting to pass it down to their kids on their wedding day. This wasn’t your run-of-the-mill gift request, so I took it upon myself to help her find that perfect watch.
She also mentioned that he used to have a pocket watch but lost it years ago, and he’d never come across one that suited him since. When I heard that part of her story, I had a hunch that the pocket watch was the gift she was after. Unfortunately, I didn’t have pocket watches, but I showed her my skeleton face mechanical watch, which happened to be our bestseller and my personal favorite.
The joy on her face when she saw the intricate design and movement of the Presidente was priceless. It was a no-brainer – the watch with its classy design, visible gears, and top-notch craftsmanship was the perfect fit. As she held it in her hands, you could see the happiness and anticipation in her eyes, and I felt it in my heart too.
The bride’s genuine gratitude for finding this unique timepiece filled me with pride. It wasn’t just about making a sale; it was about making a meaningful connection and helping her show her love through a thoughtful gift.
Seeing her excitement and knowing I played a part in making this young couple’s day filled me with so much happiness. It reminded me of why I wanted to start Gamma Six in the first place. Her tears of joy with the purchase made all the effort I put in to understand their story worthwhile. It underlined the magic of personal connections and creating lasting memories through meaningful interactions. I will never forget that day.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I used to think that as a business owner, I had to do everything myself. At the start, I wore multiple hats-photographer, social media manager, marketer, web developer, and accountant, just to name a few. I believed that doing it all on my own was the only way to ensure things were done right and on time. But let me tell you, juggling all those roles can lead to quick burnout, and it’s impossible to excel at everything.
So, I eventually realized the importance of outsourcing. When I need product photos, I hire a photographer. When the finances need attention, I bring in an accountant. And when it’s time to revamp the website, I hire a web designer. This shift has been a game-changer. It frees up my time, allowing me to focus on what I do best, connecting with my customers.
What I truly love is engaging with my customers, hearing about their experiences with Gamma Six, their ideas for improvements, and their pride in wearing our products. This is where I find my joy. And I couldn’t have this level of interaction if I were trying to be a one-person show.
