We recently connected with Kisma * and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kisma thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s talk about innovation. What’s the most innovative thing you’ve done in your career?
I believe innovation always begins internally. It’s the Universal Law of Cause and Effect. We are the cause for the effects we see and experience in our external world. Often times, innovation is counter-intuitive. We think we have to go fast, hustle, 10x it all…those things usually deplete energy.
After I semi retired as a classical musician, I opened a yoga studio in Grosse Pointe, MI. I loved that studio and the clients. After 3 months, I realized I needed guidance, so I told my staff I was going to India to study for a few weeks. It seemed like the worst idea, to leave a new business at that time.
But I told them, I couldn’t not go. That started my true journey of spirituality and transformation as I continued studying and visiting India for the next 16 years.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My back round as a classical musician meant that I had to understand mindset. I started working on that when I was 13 years old. It was when I was in Hong Kong with the Philharmonic, that I started practicing yoga. Something shifted and I was on a quest. There was more to life than performing in an orchestra. All of this led to a unique perspective of how I coach and train— using ancient knowledge and also cutting edge modern neuroscience and behavior profiling. I would say that was is most unique about how I train coaches in our Prosperity Code Coaching Certification, is I teach them how to gather information with ease, without asking so many questions, and how to read and hear the human in front of them in ways most people never think of.
I am most proud of my spiritual mastermind, The Ashram Alchemists and Masters, and Prosperity Code Coaching Method Certification. It’s because we help people be great humans, great spiritual beings, and great coaches.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn perfection. I think many people try to be perfect for fear of getting things wrong, and perfection leads to stagnation. But as a classical musician, perfection is the norm. So when I started my yoga studio and then my coaching company, Illumination Academy™, I really had to unlearn perfection.
Let it flow, be a bit messy, as long as I was making an impact.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing clientele is to love what you do. I’ve been around coaches and other industry experts, who have lost the love of their profession. You can feel it. There’s a cognitive dissonance. When you love what you do, there is an energy that is contagious. People talk about you and share your wisdom, and it’s way easier to invite people into your own universe and share your gifts, because it is real and potent.
