We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kisha Lesane. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kisha below.
Kisha, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the best thing you’ve ever seen (or done yourself) to show a customer that you appreciate them?
Once I became a business owner/food blogger with a Youtube channel. I found myself always thinking about how I could continue to grow followers, maintain my numbers, build my brand and grow my social media all while staying hydrated. I forgot about why I started A Pinch of Butter which will always be my customers who are better known as Butter Lovers. If it was not for each and every one of my Butter Lovers my blog and the channel would not be successful. They are the ones who share my thoughts, post, and episodes on my channel. As well as purchased any book I was a part of.
So I had to take a moment away from the way I was running my business and refocus on why I started a business. Now I tell the story behind each restaurant I interview. I now focus on sharing the passion of the owners. My customers are now the most important thing about A Pinch of Butter. I even use my platform and share businesses that I know deserve the spotlight but are not getting the attention they deserve for no cost.
I now know that if I focus on who is important (my customers) my business will continue to grow. I will have the opportunity to make a full career being the voice of restaurant owners and bakeries.
As a co-author of I Am Not Your Superwoman once we became a Best Seller on Amazon which is where it can still be purchased. I wanted to give back so I purchased a few copies signed them and give them to a few customers of my blog who I knew needed to learn one of the many lessons you can get from our book.
Kisha, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Kisha Lesane and food is my life. That’s why I had to turn my passion into a thriving business. I am the proud owner of A Pinch of Butter LLC since 2019. I am also an Influencer, YouTuber, Vlogger, and Published Author, Ok let me explain, I am a passionate food blogger who thinks I have a stunning personality, a winning smile (at least that’s what my mom tells me) and the appetite to match. My number one motto is ‘butter makes everything better”. As a blogger, I have the opportunity to experience many restaurants, drinks, and products and I use all my platforms to share this with each one of you! I take pride in introducing hungry guests to amazing restaurants. My followers have grown to love my honest reviews. I am also a proud National Day Calander Ambassador.
I started this business as a way to feel normal when I was rebuilding my life from nothing but ashes. I wanted to be the voice of the restaurants that start their business from nothing but passion and dedication to their craft. I attend Grand Openings, I travel to do full interviews on my Youtube Channel, and I am even in the lab preparing a new book that will be full of deliciousness.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I would have to say what made A Pinch of Butter what it is today is I stick to a few things that I would love to share with each of you today.
1. I am 100 % honest in all my food reviews.
2. When I am cooking on my Youtube channel and if I make a cooking mistake I own it because we all have to remember we are human.
3. I vow always to share the back story of each restaurant I review because that is where the passion lies.
I hope to always have my reader’s attention with them knowing I never give fluff. That is why I feel I have survived so many years as a food blogger.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
My biggest lesson I had to unlearn was asking for help. As an African American Woman, I was always taught I had to be strong. I have heard many times from many different people that asking for help was a sign of weakness. I now know those people have never really accomplished much in life so listening to them was probably not a great idea. As I mentioned in my last article not asking for help prevented me from connecting with some incredible people See there are so many successful bloggers and authors out there in the world so that means I did not have to reinvent the wheel. I just had to find my place and allow others to help guide me while remaining true to my vision.
