Alright, Kisha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
Learning the craft
Kisha, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m an educator & content creator. In the film space, I write, direct, produce, act, & create music. In both career areas of education & content creation, I’ve always had a curious mind to explore & find answers. I also enjoy encouraging others. This led me to be the co-founder of III Productions, a film company, with co-owner, John Rachwitz Jr. In 2018, Natasha White, a great asset to the team, joined us because of her multi-talented nature that spanned from teaching theater to acting, writing, directing, singing, & producing film. The focus of III Productions is on creating inspirational content & its purpose is to “ignite, infuse, & inspire others”.
In 2024, I founded & became the CEO of Inquisitive Minds Films, LLC. The motto is ‘creating content through curiosity’. I have so many questions when it comes to people & what’s around us; who people really are, why they are the way they are, what motivates and discourages others, & etc. In creative work I love exploring these questions through discussions, story lines that can become series & films, along with music. The sky is the limit as far as topics, genres, & sounds!
Since 2018, I’ve also been an assistant for the Austin Action Fest, a yearly action festival that takes place in Austin, Texas. Along with this, I co-host a show that pairs with this event called “The Action Addicts Podcast”. It zones in on educating & giving a platform to filmmakers. Our general area of focus is action films but we love talking to the film community in general. My co-hosts Benjamin Redic II, Danyelle Cavaness-Weatherford, Joe Barajas & I focus on supporting filmmakers & providing entertainment.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I want to keep seeking answers about the world around us & create encouraging entertaining content. We humans are social creatures and as much as we may think of ourselves as individualistic, we need the people around us to survive and thrive. So, I’m always open to discuss how fellow creatives & I can support each other. I love working with the talent around me that I’ve known from the beginning of my film & music journey & those I continue to meet along the way. There are several to name but many are those I’ve mentioned in this interview today. But just a couple of others out of many that I feel blessed to partner with continuously are James Drake Coleman (actor/writer/producer/DP/music artist) & Edwin Quinones (writer/actor/stunt coordinator). Filmmaking & music production is very collaborative & nearly impossible without some highly talented people! My hope is to work with individuals that allow us each to support each other while we tell our stories.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The best part of creating is when your work connects with other people in some way. If someone has an experience with content I’ve had a hand in producing and they’re inspired in some way, this matters a lot to me. I feel that encouraging others is what drives me in both being an educator & creative.
