We were lucky to catch up with Kirstie Pike and Christine Diaz recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kirstie Pike and Christine Diaz, appreciate you joining us today. Any thoughts around creating more inclusive workplaces?
Hi there! We are Kirstie Pike and Christine Diaz, co-founders of On Airplane Mode. We are excited to share more information on how we work with brands to help them create a more inclusive workplace for LGBTQ+ people. Some of the ways we help companies with their inclusivity is through consulting them on establishing non-discrimination policies, offering comprehensive healthcare benefits for all members of the LGBTQ+ community, and providing gender-neutral bathrooms for their employees and clients. Additionally, we coach companies on how to use inclusive language, offer sensitivity and awareness training, celebrate Pride all year long, and create resource groups for LGBTQ+ employees.

Kirstie Pike and Christine Diaz, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Our LGBTQ+ platform is inspiring others to follow their passion and celebrate their unique identities. We recognize the significance of creating meaningful content that truly resonates with the LGBTQ+ community. We have a dedicated audience that is eager to engage with brands that support and uplift the LGBTQ+ community. We use our expertise in LGBTQ+ content creation to help clients and destinations who are committed to diversity and inclusivity. Some of the ways we create powerful and impactful campaigns include speaking on panels, presenting workshops, creating content that represents the LGBTQ+ community, and more!

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
One of the creative motivators to our platform is providing LGBTQ+ representation that we did not have growing up. When people see positive representations of LGBTQ+ individuals in media, art and society, it helps to validate their own identities and experiences. Through our creative expression, we hope to normalize queer love, increase acceptance of LGBTQ+ individuals, and educate people to learn about different sexual orientations and gender identities. We hope that in sharing our story of love and adventure, we can help inspire others to follow their passions as well while celebrating who they are and who they love!
We’d love to hear about you met your business partner.
We met nearly six years ago in New York City! We didn’t know in that moment that we would change each other’s lives. We shared stories of our individual travels, and daydreamed about seeing the world one day. Little did we know, we would end up traveling together for many years to come!
