We were lucky to catch up with Kirsten Owen recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kirsten, thanks for joining us today. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later
Of course I wish I had started my business sooner because I have never been happier. I absolutely love what I do. I would have loved to challenge myself as a business owner a lot sooner. I do believe the timing was just right for me and my business.
I had to go through a lot of life lessons before starting my business. A lot of growth and discipline was necessary.
I can be headstrong yet immensely driven at the same time.
I have found during the process that growth and service is so rewarding.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I am proud of my work ethic and having the pleasure of getting new and repeat clients at events is rewarding to me in knowing I am doing an exceptional job.
I am a firm believer in providing excellent customer service. That includes clear and open communication. It is very important to me to know my client’s expectations so that I can not only meet them, but exceed them. I oversee every aspect and every detail for each event I book. Everything is discussed and covered with each client. I stay in constant contact with them so that I am always able to help and answer any questions that come up. Absolutely nothing is missed. I believe in staying professional at all times and adhering to all laws, rules and regulations pertaining to my craft. I require my staff to maintain that same standard.
Have you ever had to pivot?
My biggest pivot moment was when COVID hit and shut everything down.
I realized bills (mortgage, car payment, etc.) would not stop coming even though no work was coming in. There were no more parties, weddings or events.
I refused to get a loan. With my extreme determination I was going to pay every bill due on my own.
I had to think outside the box during this time and fast. I decided to do Virtual Mixology classes and actually thrived during COVID. I had clients all across the United States, United Kingdom and Europe. This has got to be one of my proudest moments to date.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Word of mouth is the best referral. I have so many clients from word of mouth referrals. Also, guests at events see me in action behind the bar and have booked me on the spot for their own event.
It is so much fun seeing the same people at so many parties, weddings and other events that have hired me previously.
