We recently connected with Kiria Murray and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kiria, thanks for joining us today. How did you scale up? What were the strategies, tactics, meaningful moments, twists/turns, obstacles, mistakes along the way? The world needs to hear more realistic, actionable stories about this critical part of the business building journey. Tell us your scaling up story – bring us along so we can understand what it was like making the decisions you had, implementing the strategies/tactics etc.
This question is so important to me because people who have been with me from the beginning of KCMCreationz LLC has seen firsthand how much effort has gone into scaling up. I started my business in June of 2018 as just a side passion project. I knew I wanted to help others achieve the same holistic lifestyle I was growing to learn and love. I try to be as transparent as possible with my community because I feel like that is what helps us get connected and I don’t want to give the impression of overnight success, or a business with no obstacles.
When I first began in 2018 I had nothing but a few dollars and a dream of success. I started off writing down every single thing related to my business and my products.
I wrote down every ingredient and it’s cost, all my recipes and remedies went into a spiral notebook that I hold dear to my heart.
I wanted to have a blueprint to my success so I always know how I got there.
I would hand write each and every thank you card for my customers, I hand wrote all labels and packaged things in ziploc bags!
It’s so funny to think about now looking back because I realized how little I knew about business but I was just determined to learn and make my legacy.
Between 2018-2019 I would deliver every order in my area for free just to give people an extra incentive to try my product. Eventually I built up a good clientele to stop deliveries and pick ups which prompted me to begin my Etsy shop in 2020. Etsy opened me up to another revenue of customers and helped expand my business to be able to ship all over at a low cost and print my labels right at home. I was able to post and promote my products on my Etsy shop and focus less on website graphics and details that would take my time away from creating. November of 2022 is when I really put all my faith into scaling up after becoming a full time entrepreneur and the hard work paid off.
In December of 2022 I had 550 followers and I just became unemployed. I immediately thought to myself that instead of putting more of my time into working for someone else, I would invest in me.
I began studying videos and articles on how to grow my social media and ways to get more support. In less than 6 months my follower count grew from 550 to over 17k followers! My engagement is at a steady 9k accounts every month and I have been able to secure product deals with various companies.
All of this happened with discipline and determination. I wrote down a list of various topics to make content for and bought advice from a social media marketer who helped me to improve my posts and grow my my followers, I made sure to post content daily no matter if it had 1 like or hundreds, the hard work definitely paid off!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
For those who may not be familiar with my journey, I started KCMCreationz LLCn June of 2018 with only one product, my yoni steams! My business is all about encouraging self care and adapting a holistic lifestyle. I hand make my products sold on Etsy like yoni steams, tea blends, body scrubs, yoni bars and oils with all natural ingredients and lots of love!
I pride my business on being affordable and never sacrificing quality so I can further encourage people to look at self care as a daily need instead of just spontaneous wants. I want everyone to be able to afford products that are made with their health and body in mind.
I am also a Holistic Wellness Coach and curator for KCMCreationz on instagram where I show my followers easy ways to implement holistic routines into their life through things like juicing, exercise, and natural remedies. In addition, KCMCreationz gives reviews on great places and products that are holistic or natural and help to enhance your lifestyle such as Red Light Therapy Panels, tuning forks, glassware for herbal teas and much more!
I’m able to suggest natural remedies for people looking to try a different approach from prescriptions. I’m most happy with my ability to give people an option to learn different ways to heal their body. hearing positive feedback from my clients is the best part of it all knowing they feel much better and are happy with results.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I believe what helped me build my reputation in the holistic market is practicing what I preach! When people watch my stories or my page content they can see the raw and the real. I show my community my daily routines, my eating and living habits and I show them that I’m not perfect. Im able to build a bond of trust with when my community sees me practicing self care routines and showing them how easy it is for them to do the same. When I do things like tutorials on natural toothpaste and then show them the whiteness of my own teeth after using it, more people trust that I’m actually living the holistic lifestyle I’m trying to push to others. Showing my community that I’m just another regular person who makes the choices daily to live holistically helps encourage them to do the same and trust that the information or tips and remedies I provide are legit.

Alright – let’s talk about marketing or sales – do you have any fun stories about a risk you’ve taken or something else exciting on the sales and marketing side?
One of my favorite marketing moments was December of 2022. I had just became unemployed unexpectedly, I had little to no products made and I was feeling super discouraged, A trusted friend was throwing a winter wonderland fest downtown Atlanta and offered me an opportunity to be a vendor. This was my first out of state event and only my second time ever being a vendor plus I had nothing ready and was low on inventory. I questioned whether I should even do the event and whether I would make any sales especially to drive 4 hours out the way to make it. I felt like the odds were definitely stacked against me but I was determined to go. I had only 12 days to prepare for an event with over 800 RSVPs. I remember I was making products back to back all day long. People didn’t understand I had to make the product, package and label, and update my inventory which was much more work than simply just creating the product. I spent hours between bedtime for my kids and the morning just creating and packaging until my eyes physically couldn’t stay open anymore.
When it was all said and done I was able to get everything done in time and my amazing life partner helped me to set up at the underground mall and the show was on! The night turned out to be amazing even though I didn’t have everything completed perfectly as I would have liked. The customers had no idea and my table turned out to be very alluring to people and I managed to score sales! It was my first time out of town with my business and putting myself out there since becoming a full time entrepreneur and it made me feel amazing to have gotten it all done and made sales despite the odds.
I was inspired and encouraged that I really do have the ability to pull off anything I put my mind to and have faith in myself and my products!
